How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing really, highly recommend this hotel.
Staff were really friendly and helpful, throughout our stay, including an upgrade without us requesting it. We really liked our room, plenty of space and it was very clean. Jacuzzi bath etc. very good. Food in restaurant and terrace was very good. Great location.

The overall character of the place and the attention of the staff.
Wonderful location in the Montreal Historic old city. Very convenient. It won’t be my last time here.

Outstanding staff. Extremely accommodating. We arrived early and departed late. They were happy to keep our luggage locked up while we enjoyed Montreal. The concierge was an absolute delight, made our bookings for us, and even walked over to a lunch spot with us to show us the way. Highly recommend.

1. Location: Right in the heart of Old Town, a ten minute walk from dozens of shops, restaurants, attractions, and the subway, which can whisk you away to points beyond. 2. The decor: The lobby is impeccably stylish. We loved the mixture of the old buildings with the modern. The room had plenty of storage for clothes and the amenities were lovely. 3. The staff: Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Had to be moved to another room late in the day as tv was not working. Second room tv not working properly. Think some maintenance may need to be addressed.
Beautiful facility. Wonderful location. Great selection of restaurants.

Initially no air conditioning in our room Noise from road rebuilding outside Noise from remodeling construction inside the hotel Fridge not working, was fixed the next morning
We checked in, then went to an event, got back late to find the air conditioning was not working! Luckily Elizabeth P on front desk took control of the situation and helped move us to a new room with air conditioning immediately. Enjoyed a good breakfast, and the roof top bar and the general decor and ambience The Head Concierge Jonathan Hug was helpful with directions, suggestions, restaurant reservations etc Great Location

There was extremely loud construction that started before 6:00AM. The hotel was accommodating and changed rooms for us for the next night.

I cannot think of a thing.
I liked all of it, the room, staff, Nespresso in the room, an in spite of infrastructure construction in the streets, it was quiet.

1) Needs better lighting, especially in the bathroom. It made room feel dingy after a while. 2) For Summer 2025 - street in front is torn up. To get to the front entrance you have drag your suitcase along a temporary sidewalk.
This is an elegant hotel with a great staff and a very nice restaurant. Location in Old Montreal is ideal.

Great location. Only negative was construction started at 7am outside the building directly below my window and it woke me up . Very loud .

Construction noise was present, but not at night and not too bad. Nothing can really be done about it so it's not the hotel's fault.
Staff was super friendly, we were upgraded to a suite at no cost. Room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Hotel is well appointed and elegant. Great location.

The Nelligan is centrally located in Old Montreal, within easy walking distance of good restaurants, cafes, art galleries and gift shops, and a block from the river. Our king bed and bath were very clean, bed was comfortable. The adjoining restaurant offered a very nice breakfast. The bar was lacking in a selection of Canadian whiskey, which was surprising.

Construction.
Been to the Nelligan many times. It’s under major renovation at the moment as is the street outside. Still we love it and are returning very soon.

This is located in a very nice area and it was a joy to browse around. Everything in the hotel looked new and sparkling clean. The room was quite spacious and tastefully arranged.
