There was a booking mix up at the beginning but everything was settled down and the stay was perfect for me

I received an email saying that my stay was canceled, and the low fair I found on Bookings.com was not what I eventually paid. The Pensione however, sent me all the information that I needed, so I wonder if the issue was at the Bookings.com end of things. It made for confusion, and initially I had a hard time getting in touch with the Pensione staff.

It's in the perfect location, the room was clean and air-conditioned, and the bed was comfy. The staff was super helpful. The owner's number is on the welcome email, texting him if you have a problem is the way to go. Make sure that you know that the room and front door code change at the time of check-out, you could get locked out if you don't pay attention to the time.

Plants needed water, and the wifi was a bit intermittent and weak in the room I was in. You need to be able to get up two sets of stairs with your bags for those who have mobility issues.

The lounge and coffee room was a nice addition since I was last there. Washrooms and shower were very private for shared, clean, comfortable and lots of them. Excellent location. Nice to know staying there isn't taking a rent-able apartment out of the local housing pool. Loved seeing the clear support of Palestine on the premises.

There weren't any tissues in the room. Some plastic cups would be convenient too, since most water bottles don't fit under the sink. The remote for the heat/AC didn't let me set it to heat which was odd, but it was fine since it wasn't that cold.

The window was a bit loose and rattled a bit, but i am not complaining. It was just something i noticed.

Super freindly, relaxed check in and check out. Quiet consisering it was above a bar. Comfy bed, great location.

The fact that it was passed off as a normal hotel, when in fact, it was self check-in. This would emerge to be an issue in more ways than one: the entrance code did not work at first, limited/no heat, and parking anxiety. There was no hot water through the first two days, but I noticed it coming through the third day. Because it did not come through the bathroom tap, I lacked confidence to try the shower, so cannot speak to that conclusively.

Staff was relatively accessible by phone, and conveyed a helpful and friendly attitude. The location- sort of. It is in the heart of the “Plateau”- a trendy Montreal neighborhood buzzing with character. But for those unfamiliar with Montreal, you need to know that “Le Plateau” is far removed from downtown (30-40 minute walk to Ste. Catherine).

Unclean bathrooms, small rooms, lack of privacy with shared common areas.

The place was the most affordable option but that doesn't say much with the shared unclean washrooms abd dorm style accommodation. Why is this the cheapest hotel you can find nowadays. Montreal used to be really affordable for high quality.

There were fresh stains on bed sheets, no soap or shampoo, but oddly only conditioners and body lotions.

The location was in the middle of the downtown, which was pretty. Although there was no designated parking, it is common for such locations
