How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe general vibe of the room was upto date and well designed. Was pleased it was in the middle of old city, a block away from Chateau Frontenac No breakfast was provided, but nice hearby restaurant was open. From explorong other hotels downtown, many did not gave elevator . Elevator here was excellent Staff very helpful in getting luggage in and out of building No place to sit when waiting for room, or friend visitation to hotel Complimentary coffee very appreciated. An empty fridge much appreciated for snack or medication., chilling water.
Television remote repeatedly non responsive. No printed channel listing. No easy way to close caption for my hearing, No business area where a computer or printer could be used Room 205. When moving from desk, coffee fridge area, to washroom bed area, there was a hidden bed leg that I repeatedly caught my foot on, almost falling.. This is dangerous. I have mild gait problem that increased the risk Recommend. a plastic , or thick carboard insert alerting to the presence of the leg

Fire alarm in the middle of the night, hotel evacuated, was a false alarm. Room could so with a long mirror and better lighting in the bathroom for makeup.

Verified reviewAppreciated the elevator, and the ease of getting a bucket of ice from the downstairs bar. Convenient and walkable to everything we wanted to do and see.
The bathroom had a wall of frosted glass that faced into the bedroom. Did not give a feeling of privacy!

Verified reviewRoom was small but large enough. Great shower. Clean. Comfortable bed. Great air conditioning since it was extremely hot and humid outside.
There was a continuous low throbbing throughout the night probably from the machinery.associated with the central air or the elevator. Our room was in the back with a view of a solid white wall. A room on the street side would have had a view and perhaps no throbbing machine sound.But..One adapts.

Verified reviewthe location was fantastic.
The hotel is in the middle of a street which you can not drive on. you have to find the public parking lot and then bring your luggage to the hotel.

Verified reviewThis is a lovely place to stay, in the heart of old Quebec
Our room had no windows, except one that looked in to a small interior area with a skylight, which was too small to call a courtyard. I would definitely request to NOT have this room if I stayed here again.

Verified reviewGreat central location and still very quiet
Our only issue was the tv. Very limited selection of English speaking stations and all liberal. CNN and no conservative stations. No access to YouTube

Verified reviewExcellent location; convenient for walking to shops and restaurants. The room was very clean. Friendly, helpful staff.
Our shower had a full length window that faced the bedroom and did not allow privacy when taking a shower. Restaurant does not serve breakfast.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect. I also loved the decor and the way the hotel had a modern leaning but kept some of the old architectural features of the building. Although we didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, it was very convenient and added great ambiance to the space. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. A great stay, overall!
The room was a little tight on space for our family of four adults with lots of luggage, but that's to be expected in old Quebec. We certainly didn't mind and were still comfortable. It would be the perfect size for a couple or a smaller group.

Verified reviewWe couldn't find parking so we could not stay!! I have requested a refund, we drove around the hotel in circles for 1.2 hr we couldnt even drop off our bags and park farther away...terrible experience. We will never go back!! The city that we saw in the midst of our frustration was beautiful but unaccessible.
Good morning Liz, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We are truly sorry that you could not find parking. The refund has been issued on our end, but your payment was made to Booking.com. I would contacty them to see if they have issued it. We do hope to welcome you again in better circumstances, Annie
