Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThere was nothing I didn't like. Given it's age and history the Hotel Senator is well worth a stay.
I loved this place. Full of atmosphere, neat features , quaint comfort and memories of a past era. Staff professional, natural and down to earth. Security is good. Clean and warm. Close to the river and the historical area. Only ate at Winstons and the food was very good.

CanadaThis hotel is located in the worst part of Saskatoon. The parking situation is extremely limited, with only a few spaces for the whole hotel. But at least it is a gated parking lot, which is necessary. Drunks, transients, and drug users were all around the hotel, making tons of noise, trying to come into the hotel and harrassing us when we went outside. It took almost an hour for us to get checked in because of an issue with the debit/credit machine (as a general rule hotels only accept credit cards these days), which was frustrating because we arrived late and were already exhausted. Also the sink was not draining properly.
The room was huge and the beds comfortable. The decor around the hotel is unique and charming. We had a coffee maker and small fridge in our room. They welcomed us and my dog kindly. There is a nice pub where we had discounted drinks. When their ice machine wasn't working the staff at the front desk filled my thermal water bottles with ice. They were so kind.

CanadaThe breakfast was small - maybe a toaster oven for bread would be something doable? And the bathrooms were small too - but still very nice.
The location was stellar, and the vintage feel of the place was great. The gated parking was suprising but amazing for the fact that it's downtown Saskatoon- and the staff were amazing about moving vehicles to help me leave when I needed. The walkability to venues was stellar also!

CanadaThe chair in the room had some decent stains on it. So that should really be cleaned up or replaced. Left the chair in the closet, didn’t want to look at it but it also was not needed. A breakfast of sorts was offered for free, muffins pastry oranges apples yogurt coffee tea orange and apple juice. But this isn’t replenished. Have to go down early for the best selection.
I really like this old hotel, there have been some nice changes made since my last visit. The room furniture maybe be missed matched but that adds to the charm.

CanadaRooms are not the fanciest ever, and there was some noise from the pub until 1ish that you could hear if the window was open. Would be less if you stayed on the southside of the building, but the northside was very cool, even on a very hot day.
Location was great if you are staying downtown. Urban downtowns are what they are, so take that how you like, but the HS did a good job of providing security (locked parking and key-card entry to lobby, without seeming militant or unfriendly. The pub downstairs is great, and the staff was very friendly and attentive.

The hotel is quite charming, staff is friendly and effective, the pub is a big plus.

CanadaHotel parking is at a premium. Around back and first come first served. There is parking out front but it is limited to a maximum of three hours Monday through Saturday. We found it easier to park in pay as you go lots that were close to the Hotel.
Location was perfect - Downtown Saskatoon close to restaurants and shopping. The Senator is older (110years) but really well kept. It has a comfortable feel. Rich wood panelling and elaborate decorations; wide connecting hallways and upgraded rooms that retain their charm. The rooms are relatively quiet and generally unaffected by the old English Pub on the ground floor.

CanadaThe toilet was running in the night, I didn't hear it but I guess my husband did. The connected pub, the service was poor, but the drinks and food were fine.
Front desk staff were great! Location is also a big factor, so nice to be downtown. We managed to utilize the parking at the hotel, so an added bonus.

United KingdomNo good sound proof. I could hear everything clearly from the street outside to the people passing by my room door. I stayed there in the past in a room not facing the front of the building and it was nice though so I think next time I would just ask for a room in the back

CanadaCheck in was slower with less experienced receptionist. The hotel parking lot was full (and fairly small) so we had to park on the street. Luckily, we only had to pay for 2 hours of street parking (till 6 pm) on a Saturday and then Sunday was "no charge" for street parking.
Beautiful and well maintained older building. Rooms are well kept with modern and up to date amenities. Reasonably quiet in building and on street. Outdoor patio on the 2nd floor. Good food in the hotel pub!

United StatesOnly issue was that I forgot to bring an outlet adapter for charging USB devices so I had to rely on only my lap[top. Many hotels have lamps with USB sockets or other USB chargers - would be nice to see Senator do something like that.
Everything was as expected. Stayed there 13 years ago and it's still good.
