Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

There was no direct access to the lakeshore from the room. No comfortable outdoor furniture to enjoy the lake view, location was not near any convenience stores
The view of the lake from the window and the well-equipped kitchenette; friendly owner who went out of his way to get a medicinal stool to allow my cousin with limited mobility to shower.

The walls are quite thin, so I could hear everything on either side of me. Thankfully this didn't impact my sleep.
Really lovely owners, who were kind enough to introduce me to their three sweet dogs. Plenty of food options locally, and a gorgeous view of the lake from the room. The only downsize to the view was that there were chairs out the front of my window that another guest sat at while listening to their radio loudly.

Had to study & do trial and error / 2 remotes to operate TV. Buttons did not do what expected. And slight sewer smell in room, told from septic system. No sink stopper & a brown ick around drain - told was stain from folks putting coffee in sink, but yucky visual & feared loss of toothbrush or jewelry down drain.
Incredible views & while location was away from main part of Baddeck, had lobster restaurant next door w/ live music & good food open all day. Room had good amenities. Easy to load in as car parked right outside door. Property manager Vince was helpful answering questions about area.

The own gave great recommendation for food and Cabot trail detours. Locations is great at the beginning of the Cabot trail.

Beds were older.
The location on the Cabot Trail was perfect for our trip. Lots of parking and area to take the dog out. We booked a room with twin beds and found them to be a bit old and noisy. The room was very clean and I am happy we booked here. It was an easy check in and great view of the Ocean. We saw bald eagles too! You will not regret making this stop when traveling. Very helpful front desk too with the nicest owner.

No air conditioner and it was so hot inside! There was a fan but it wasn’t enough. Keeping the windows open meant listening to the highway noise and the outdoor noise of neighbours. Could also be a bit cleaner. Found some bugs and the cups weren’t clean.
Location was great for our Cape Breton activities.

No complaints. The lampshades could be replaced but it's a minor detail. I enjoyed my stay here.
The room had a fantastic view to the lake. The hosts were very kind and nice and explained very well what was going on, and gave some good recommendations for dining options in the Baddeck town, which was 15 minutes away. The motel was old, however it was very well maintained and comfortable and didn't feel dated. The hosts were able to work with the situation when there was a power outage in the entire region, but let me check in anyway after verifying on their phone. The room had a lot of things including coffeemaker, wine screw opener, etc.

For the amount I spent to rent the cottage I was disappointed with the outdoor space. I planned to spend a lot of time enjoying the view, but the outdoor seating was uncomfortable, mismatched, and the access to the water was unkempt.
The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location was beautiful.

A little outdated ....needed a few updates.
Incredible view and excellent location if you're interested in doing the Cabot trail. The owner was awesome in explaining what to see and where to stop. It was clean and tidy.

No air conditioning! It was so hot even with the windows opened trying to get a breeze off of the water. It would have been nice to access the water view with a patio door in each room versus having to walk around the building.
We didn’t eat breakfast - didn’t know there was one we could’ve had.
