Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOn arrival we were not made welcome. Instead we were given a lecture on what we were not allowed to do including using the dish washer, raising the blinds during daytime lest the furniture turned orange and limited cooking. Notes were left all over the apartment giving unnecessary instructions eg how to use the stove and cooking utensils . Because the blinds had to be drawn we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful views advertised. Overall, our interaction with the owner was not a positive experience.

CanadaNo visitors allowed. If you are planning to travel to Pemberton to visit family and would like your family to stop in for a coffee or dinner then this may not be the best option for you. The listing did say "Registered paying guests only may stay or visit at the property" however I had assumed this meant visiting overnight. For this reason, I did not spend much time at the property.
Well appointed apartment with comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet neighborhood and accommodation. Easy walk to town, lake and trails. Parking out front.

CanadaThe substantial cleaning fee. I only stayed one night and used the unit lightly. On a multi-day stay it would be reasonable. You are staying in somebody’s house; although you have your own entrance.

AustraliaRULES RULES RULES To be greeted with a 3/4 hour intense, obligatory briefing of rules and instructions from the owner, Susan. I found her officious, quite overbearing, and unwelcoming. She took us to the upstairs apartment (steep flight of 16 external STAIRS!) and at the front door immediately began stipulating the house rules with a curt "shoes off" (no "please"). Followed by "shut the door" (to keep out mosquitoes) then "don't open that blind" (inoperable due to the improvised fitting of the air-conditioner vent hose). In any case the outlook is of the neighbour's untidy workshop back yard, however, opening the blind does provide light, although no ventilation! We were still only a few steps into the apartment! Although surprised by all the rules, I took the briefing in good humour until her unreasonable stipulation that the solid blind over the only other window - the main picture window (with the much advertised, albeit distant, mountain views) should ALSO be kept closed during the day - to keep the place cool, and to protect the furniture from sunlight. I was astounded and pointed out that the mountain view was the prime reason we booked this place and that I WOULD be opening the blind to enjoy the view. At this point her irritation with me was palpable. The briefing continued with some awkwardness. She said this is what hotels do. NOT IN MY EXPERIENCE from decades of travel! A short explanation of how some appliances work should be all that is needed. Most rules could be eliminated with the substitution of durable items (e.g. an electric jug, not of a stovetop kettle with instructions!) more appropriate for a rental property, and the resolving of building quirks (e.g. leaking shower, cooktop exhaust, improvised air conditioner vent hose). The "gorgeous views of Mount Currie" are not as spectacular as advertised, only seen through the top of the window.
Quiet street, a short drive or walk into the town centre. Spacious, adequately furnished and generously supplied, very comfortable bed, quality linen and towels, full kitchen and many extra inclusions. David (husband) is most congenial - very friendly, interesting and a pleasure to chat with - and to admire his woodworking! It was due to his kindness that our checkout was delayed, giving rise to his wife scolding us!

CanadaThe owner/host was extremely rude. We made sure we cleaned up after ourselves and left the place in good condition. I even took videos because I had a feeling the host would come after us for something stupid, based on the existing reviews. After we checked out, we received very rude messages accusing us of having guests because we had “too much garbage and recycling” even though we had a normal amount of garbage and recycling after 2 days of making breakfast and having dinner at the apartment. Also, we are from Vancouver and don’t know anyone in Pemberton - we only booked this place because we were skiing in Whistler the whole weekend. They also made other ridiculous claims, like accusing us of peeing on the shower curtain. My partner spilled coffee in the bathroom and cleaned it up as much as he could, not noticing there was residual splashes on the shower curtain. The host said that the old, used shower curtain right next to the toilet bowl smelled like pee - but apparently that’s our fault? Overall, the place was fine, but I would strongly recommend NOT booking this place because of how rude the owner/host is. It seems like they try to find anything wrong with your stay in order to have an excuse to charge you a damage fee. You’re better off booking a different place so you don’t have to deal with them.
The location was central and equipment was well stocked.

United KingdomI’m sure this is a lovely property…. However, we cancelled our reservation on principle. The advertised cost for one night was CA$109, however the hidden booking fees doubled the overnight stay to CA$221.35! I would expect a booking fee to be a small percentage of the overnight stay, but more than doubling the advertised cost is simply unacceptable. It would appear that the majority of the additional cost is for cleaning, surely this should be included within the advertised overnight cost? I’m not sure if this is a property owner issue or a fault with the booking.com website but either way it’s unacceptable to double the advertised cost and it makes me very uncomfortable using the booking.com website in future….. which I’ve regularly been using all around the World since November 2014 and never had this situation at any other property… If you are looking for a cheap place to stay for one night then this is not it. I’ve spoken with booking.com Customer Service and have been promised a full refund BUT to date haven’t seen any of the money… I’ve no doubt the property owner will have something to say about this review… however, as a reasonable intelligence person and someone who is relatively tech savvy the ‘hidden’ extras were not immediately apparent…. Book with caution….

GermanyThe view of the mountain from the living room window is wonderful. Since the pleated blinds have to be lowered during the day (because of the heat), you can only enjoy the view in the evening and in the very early morning hours. This was a great pity. During the day it was a good 25 degrees, despite lowered pleated blinds it has heated up in the apartment, so we sweated at night. The fan did not help, especially on the second night, when we should not leave the windows open at night because of the expected rain. Perhaps an air conditioner would be helpful.
We were very kindly received by Susan. She showed us around the apartment, explained everything and pointed out the respective rules that apply to the rooms. However, these are also available again in written form for reference (no shoes in the apartment, pull the curtain for showering until the end, turn on the ventilation in the bathroom, lower the pleated blinds in front of the windows during the day ...). The apartment is well equipped and has everything you need. The location to Whistler and the trails in the area is good. Restaurants and shopping are within walking distance.
