How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was central and equipment was well stocked.
The owner/host was extremely rude. We made sure we cleaned up after ourselves and left the place in good condition. I even took videos because I had a feeling the host would come after us for something stupid, based on the existing reviews. After we checked out, we received very rude messages accusing us of having guests because we had “too much garbage and recycling” even though we had a normal amount of garbage and recycling after 2 days of making breakfast and having dinner at the apartment. Also, we are from Vancouver and don’t know anyone in Pemberton - we only booked this place because we were skiing in Whistler the whole weekend. They also made other ridiculous claims, like accusing us of peeing on the shower curtain. My partner spilled coffee in the bathroom and cleaned it up as much as he could, not noticing there was residual splashes on the shower curtain. The host said that the old, used shower curtain right next to the toilet bowl smelled like pee - but apparently that’s our fault? Overall, the place was fine, but I would strongly recommend NOT booking this place because of how rude the owner/host is. It seems like they try to find anything wrong with your stay in order to have an excuse to charge you a damage fee. You’re better off booking a different place so you don’t have to deal with them.
It was you Maria that was rude and your boyfriend. We have a beautiful unit that you stayed in and did not respect. When we asked you if you had additional guests you said no but we have pee all over our bathroom. You told us it was coffee. It was not coffee it was pee as I had to wash it. We are not sure who peed if it was guests you were not supposed to have in our unit or your boyfriend. My husband was disgusted with your behaviour and booking.com has your bad behaviour on file. The garbage was overflowing and so was the recycling and you told us that you had one meal at our house as you said you dined out on Friday night that is why you were late arriving and did not let us know, made us wait for your arrival which was between 5 and 6 and you did not arrive until almost 9 a late arrival on Booking.com. It would have been nice to know you were going to be late. Absolutely no text or calls from you to let us know. We thought you were a no show. We have done nothing wrong. Our reviews are very high and we have returning guests all the time. They don't pee all over our bathroom! The smell was disgusting. We had to wash all the curtains and everywhere in our bathroom. We have advised booking.com and hopefully other owners will not have to endure what we endured.

Verified reviewThe cleaning fee of 150$ is high for a one-night stay with minimal use of the facility. 150 cleaning fee + 25 booking fee = 175$ extra fee.
Jeremy the cleaning fee is what the cleaners charge us for the clean which means if we didn't charge the cleaning fee which is part of your room fee by the way, we would make $25 for your stay. Seriously, it's broken down from Booking.com for transparency. Read your Reservation Confirmation and how they break it down. Other establishments just charge you a flat rate per night but don't break it down, however, Booking.com does which I think is very honest.

Verified reviewThe property was clean and well equipped
On arrival we were not made welcome. Instead we were given a lecture on what we were not allowed to do including using the dish washer, raising the blinds during daytime lest the furniture turned orange and limited cooking. Notes were left all over the apartment giving unnecessary instructions eg how to use the stove and cooking utensils . Because the blinds had to be drawn we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful views advertised. Overall, our interaction with the owner was not a positive experience.
All the information was given to you when you booked if you did not like the unit then don't book with us please. You were very rude and very impolite and so was your husband. Our reviews are 10 what does that say?

Verified reviewGood bed size Clean
The pillows were too big The actual end cost False advertising of price for the night should be listed as $314, not $169, as was led to believe
All the costs are listed on the Reservation Confirmation she received via Booking.com. Jennifer said she did not read it. If I had to give her a review it would be 0 as she was a rude guest and very nasty.

Verified reviewThe cleaning cost was hidden. I will never paid that cost. I was supposed to paid in total 155 $. Very bad manipulation for the cleaning cost.
The cleaning cost is not hidden - it is on your Reservation Confirmation. Next time read your Reservation Confirmation! Don't book with us if you don't like the cost. Other locations in Pemberton charge twice as much as us. You have no reason whatsoever to post a review like this. Seriously?! You stayed in a clean and gorgeous place say thank you!

Verified reviewWell appointed apartment with comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet neighborhood and accommodation. Easy walk to town, lake and trails. Parking out front.
No visitors allowed. If you are planning to travel to Pemberton to visit family and would like your family to stop in for a coffee or dinner then this may not be the best option for you. The listing did say "Registered paying guests only may stay or visit at the property" however I had assumed this meant visiting overnight. For this reason, I did not spend much time at the property.
Ashley please read your Reservation Confirmation before you book.

The substantial cleaning fee. I only stayed one night and used the unit lightly. On a multi-day stay it would be reasonable. You are staying in somebody’s house; although you have your own entrance.

Verified reviewQuiet street, a short drive or walk into the town centre. Spacious, adequately furnished and generously supplied, very comfortable bed, quality linen and towels, full kitchen and many extra inclusions. David (husband) is most congenial - very friendly, interesting and a pleasure to chat with - and to admire his woodworking! It was due to his kindness that our checkout was delayed, giving rise to his wife scolding us!
RULES RULES RULES To be greeted with a 3/4 hour intense, obligatory briefing of rules and instructions from the owner, Susan. I found her officious, quite overbearing, and unwelcoming. She took us to the upstairs apartment (steep flight of 16 external STAIRS!) and at the front door immediately began stipulating the house rules with a curt "shoes off" (no "please"). Followed by "shut the door" (to keep out mosquitoes) then "don't open that blind" (inoperable due to the improvised fitting of the air-conditioner vent hose). In any case the outlook is of the neighbour's untidy workshop back yard, however, opening the blind does provide light, although no ventilation! We were still only a few steps into the apartment! Although surprised by all the rules, I took the briefing in good humour until her unreasonable stipulation that the solid blind over the only other window - the main picture window (with the much advertised, albeit distant, mountain views) should ALSO be kept closed during the day - to keep the place cool, and to protect the furniture from sunlight. I was astounded and pointed out that the mountain view was the prime reason we booked this place and that I WOULD be opening the blind to enjoy the view. At this point her irritation with me was palpable. The briefing continued with some awkwardness. She said this is what hotels do. NOT IN MY EXPERIENCE from decades of travel! A short explanation of how some appliances work should be all that is needed. Most rules could be eliminated with the substitution of durable items (e.g. an electric jug, not of a stovetop kettle with instructions!) more appropriate for a rental property, and the resolving of building quirks (e.g. leaking shower, cooktop exhaust, improvised air conditioner vent hose). The "gorgeous views of Mount Currie" are not as spectacular as advertised, only seen through the top of the window.
Absolutely hard to deal with guest left the fridge open during super hot weather and did not care, very opinionated and had snide comments about everything hard to check in interrupted every sentence. Not someone we would like back to stay with us ever.
