How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The ceramic tiling on the floor in the bathroom area needs to be cleaned better and the carpeting in the room needs to be vacuumed better and then steam cleaned.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, and bedding was clean.

Was on second floor with no elevator and very small staircase (narrow width and small steps). I found it difficult carrying my things to my room. Good sized sticky dark stain or spill right inside my room door. Reported it to desk staff and offered another room but I had already carried my things in so declined. The rest of the room was clean, however it would be nice if the got rid of the oops carpeting and put in hard flooring.
Friendly and helpful desk staff. Lobby and halls clean and fresh albeit older. Comfortable bed with clean fresh linens.

We were put in a smoking room. Apparently I made a mistake when I filled out the form on Booking.com. There were no other rooms available. That was my mistake. It’s not pleasant for a lifelong non smoker to stay in a smoking room but as I said it was my mistake.
The breakfast was good , we left our room at 05;00 AM expecting to grab something at Tim Hortons but the staff had the breakfast already laid out so that was a bonus. Ten Ten pub is located very close for a bite to eat in the evening.

Pet fee was not disclosed and was higher than others without any perks. Super 8 ask me to complete pre-arrival form online...and then asked for all the same questions in-person so I wasted ~25 mins online :S Breakfast was just a selection of carbs like waffle, bread, cereal, muffin
Selected for pet friendly, room availability, and price. Rooms was clean, quiet, matched photos.

List of rooms that have occupancy must be given to housekeeping staff to avoid knocking intensely if cleaning is needed.

The carpets need to be vacuumed better and maybe even steamed cleaned. The ceramic tiles in the wet areas need to be cleaned better. There was no shampoo or conditioner in the room. It would have been nice to have two complementary bottles of water in the room as well. The complimentary breakfast could have had more fruit and more variety of breakfast items.
Staff was friendly, bed was comfortable, and the linen was clean

Room plain but still nice. Pillows, towels, bathroom and supplied soap and shampoo very small. Queen bed but pillows were kid sized.
Price vs. location and amenities were really good. Older but seemed well taken care of. Staff politeness and helpfulness were above expectations.

The property is a little outdated. Only stairs that are steep and the bathroom was a TIGHT fit. Understandably, the air conditioner was off when we got there so we were a little nervous at first of how hot it might be, but once it was running the room cooled down quickly.
The nicest staff I’ve ever met. They even offered to help bring our suitcases up the stairs when we checked in. The breakfast was a nice variety and once we got the air conditioner running the room was very comfortable.
