This is a pet friendly facility which I absolutely love - however I do think the resort should designate some poop areas Instead of allowing them to poop anywhere…twice during our three days there we were playing the games on the front lawn and came in contact with dog poop. This is a huge facility that could designate behind the building or off to the side for poop areas. Secondly - food is just so expensive.

The staff were all amazing - from the bellhops to front desk to cleaning staff; even the poor old fella whose job was to manually pick the weeds from between the patio stones ! Just a lovely well trained staff!

The meals ie supper could have been of a higher standard. For example cucumber and watermelon salad had hardly both those ingredients but a lot of assorted lettuce. The pasta portions were too large and too heavily sauced plus I am used to quieter serving staff.

The value question depends on what you there for. I stayed at the Algonquinn because I read about it. Facilities were good. The breakfast buffet was no as good as the a la carter offering gd

Empty soap and shampoo containers in the room. Very very slow response to fix this Live bug bug crawling between sheets The room wasn’t great for the cost i.e. room carpeting, not decorated like an expensive hotel But the manager was excellent the next day when I spoke to him about the bug Expensive meals

We didn't like the hidden fee of a "resort fee" not included in our booking.com reservation. They also did not include our third guest on the actual hotel reservation and tried to upcharge us again. The second bed was really close to the window and our third guest felt they could not access the bed easily.

We enjoyed the amenities such as the spa, pool and fitness, fireplaces, and the restaurants.

    • Stayed 6 nights

80 percent of the staff were not Canadian. Felt like a trip to another country. They had no knowledge of anything in the area. The breakfast staff were incompetent at best. Couldn't remember your order. Asked us 5 or 6 times if we wanted coffee every day at which we said no thank you over and over and over. Breakfast host couldn't recognize us every morning. Asked the same questions every day. Are we staying at the hotel. Do we have a breakfast voucher. Can I see the breakfast voucher. etc. etc. Even though we were eating there six mornings in a row. Food that was suppose to be hot on the breakfast buffet was cold. We also had a different person cleaning our room each day if someone showed up at all. Mostly inadequate. Front desk different person every day looked like everyone was being trained.

The pool guy named Mishel was excellent. He was friendly and made the pool atmosphere fun.

A little more lighting in the room would have been helpful.

All the staff were friendly and professional. The hotel was well maintained with lots of activities. There were two tours; one of the town and a ghost tour of the hotel. This place was very close to the town center. It was a short walk to the Kingsbrae Garden. Two big swimming pools; one indoor and one outdoor. The tennis/pickleball court was a block away. Outdoor fire pit with the option to roast marshmallows. Bikes onsite.

The property had many amenities that pleased all ages of my family. From 4 years old to 58. Very well kept and clean. We had a wonderful bartender in the Whale pub named “V” who went out of his way to make us a special Ukrainian Sambuca. It was wonderful talking with him and getting to know him a bit! He was great!!! 😊

Wait staff are clearly trying hard and are very accommodating, and I think they would benefit from a bit more training at the beginning of the season to add to the old fashioned atmosphere of the Algonquin

Very gracious facilities, lovely huge porch, so close to town, very pretty overall

The washroom in my room! The sink/counter was so close to the toilet that it was … well I won’t get into details, but it made things very difficult.

Historic, so many things to do, great location, helpful and friendly staff, great restaurant options, and being greeted by the friendliest Labrador Retriever ever in the lobby.
