Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI'm older, 60+, and I'm visiting a friend in WA so, I thought I'd experience Vancouver over a little more than 24 hours. I chose the Cambie because it's so near to places I wanted to see and it was cheap. I hadn't stayed in a hostel in over 30 years. That was in Europe. Hostels are for younger folks who don't mind climbing up into a top bunk and sharing bathrooms and such. It's no frills all the way. So, it was doable but, next time I spend the extra dough and go soft. For younger, solo or travellers with partners, it's ok.
The location is great. Walking distance to places and sights. The young gal at the desk was very nice and helpful.

CanadaIt looked as though the men's washroom had undergone a renovation recently, whereas the womens had not. The bathroom was fine overall, but given the old stalls and design, it will be much better when they renovate it to be aesthetically as nice as the men's. There was also quite a lot of women's hair left over on the top bunk bed from previous guests, so I chose the bottom bunk instead.
The hostel was in a great neighbourhood and very easy to check-in. I chose a 2-bed female dorm room to save costs and only had a roommate on one evening. Bed was reasonably comfortable and I slept pretty well; it was not too loud in the hostel. I was only really inside when I needed to sleep so I can't comment much otherwise.

Room was small but clean. Bed was comfortable. Good kitchen and eating area. We felt secure. Close to convention centre and Rogers Arena. Lots of restaurants close by. Two blocks from bus to Horseshoe Bay Ferry.

United StatesThe ladies' bathroom on the 1st floor has been renovated and was very nicely done, considering it is shared by a number of people. The second floor bathroom is not nearly as nice. Each floor bathroom has accommodations for 2 toilet stalls and 2 showers and at no time did I have to wait for either. It seems like they clean pretty regularly so I never felt like anything was dirty. The hostel is old and the age is evident everywhere, but the cleanliness supersedes any concerns about the building age.
The hostel's location is what makes it a good value. Unfortunately, for the dates we needed to be in Vancouver, the hotel prices were extremely high ($1000/ night-no exaggeration) so being able to book in this great location for such a good price was great. We had a private room for 2.

United KingdomVery noisy location and rooms are not air conditioned or ventilated so not the easiest nights sleep. This may be a fair compromise for the price but it was not easy to go to sleep in the heat and noise.
Location could not be beaten especially with the price. Showers were great and bed was comfortable. Downstairs bars are really friendly.

United StatesOnly a bunk bed with two chairs, not even a small desk. The building looks really old, may be some painting or maintenance can make it look better. and window area is very dirty.
Room is small, one bunk bed with two chairs, but bunk beds are good size and comfortable. Location is really good, we will book again for this location. It will be better with one small desk. The bathroom with two toilets and two shower, both are clean. There are not many people while we were there.

New ZealandThe private room was small but kind of expected that, was still able to put suitcases under the bed. Bathroom felt a little dirty after hearing people fornicating in the shower. I get it’s a hostel but it was pretty gross. Obviously not the hostels fault.
It was a great location, very close to the shops and cruise terminal. Great food places nearby. Laundry was cheap only $2 for washer and $2 for dryer. It wasn’t as loud as I thought it was going to be, we were on level 2. The fan in the room was good as well.

United StatesWe stayed here just a week earlier, so most comments will be same: We knew Toronto lodging was expensive, so minimal facilities for a relatively high price here were expected. Many stairs needed to access the 2nd floor. FYI Whatever room you get, 1 gender’s shared bathroom will be on that level and the other gender’s bathroom will require more steps.
We stayed here just a week earlier, so most comments will be same: Pleasant desk staff let us into our room VERY early; also kept our bags safe for a while after we checked out. Only short walk from cruise port at Canada Place. Also very convenient to the Expo line tram to the VIA rail station. Free coffee, hot water, teabags, and use of fridge in common kitchen. We were each given a 20% off coupon (good for 2) for lunch at the bar downstairs. Each of us got a towel, bed linens, and a bed comforter. Our room this time was much better: it had a padded seat, plus a table, in addition to the basic bed and stools. Also the room’s 1 power socket was by the bed. We liked the fact that there was no rug on the floor. We slept well - didn’t hear noise from the bar.

United StatesMost of the front desk staffs' service standard leaves much to be desired. Efficiency of heating system in the room totally not present. Should have proper locker in the room instead of cages. Cages are for catching mice. Electrical outlet at the wall opposite the bed. Surprisingly the "noise" from the pub had not been an issue even though I was on the first floor. It started to get annoying when the inconsiderate hippos moved in.
Appreciate the housekeeping staffs working extremely hard to keep every corner tidy and clean. And they greet and smile amid the hectic chores. Location within walking distance to amenities.

CanadaIt's a hostel, so expect hostel-like facilities. The room felt wet, and needed an open window and fan for clothes a d towels to dry/not feel damp after hanging. The WiFi resets frequently, requiring re-entry of credentials. One night, external noise was excessive and bass vibrations rattled my bunk.
Exceptional location, easy access to transit and a short distance from many attractions. Friendly, charismatic, and supportive staff present 24 hrs to assist with issues. All around high quality experience.
