Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyThe steepest and longest staircase to walk to the apartment . The aircon was so loud I had to sleep with earplugs.
The apartment is big, beautiful and clean. In a very good position too.

SwedenCleanliness could be improved. Sofa in room was dirty, and shared bathroom was a mess most of the time (a LOT of hairs, dirty towels and wet floor). Put up a sign reminding people to clean after themselves, or maybe they didn't understand it's a shared space? This detracted from the experience since I stayed longer, but I recognize this is partly out of the host's hands.
Great location with tram connections around the block, good restaurants. Room was comfortable, host was friendly and accommodating. Cool temperature despite ongoing heat wave and fairly quiet at nights with only few exceptions.

New ZealandThe accommodation is a room with a shared bathroom and communal living, kitchen, and dining area. The toilet is in the bathroom, which is shared by all guests from the 3 rooms so you can have a wait to use it. The coffee capsules were a nice touch. However, there was no milk provided. My room was quite warm, and there was no way to regulate the temperature. The ventilation system was quite noisy. At $170 CAD per night, it was a little pricey for what it was.
The room looks luxurious with some nice touches. There are lovely furnishings, linen, and a comfortable bed. The communal kitchen/living area is clean and well stocked with cooking equipment. Close to shops, bars, restaurants, etc.

United StatesThere are 3 rooms at the location and only one bathroom to share. The rooms are on the 3rd floor, the stairs are narrow and steep. There is a live music place on the first floor next door, it could be very loud. That’s probably why they provide ear plugs.
Location - close to City Hall, Eaton Center, China Town. Easy to take street cars to go to places.

AustraliaWe booked one nights accommodation at the Downtown Gem Toronto at the end of May 2025. Firstly we didn't receive the codes to get into the property and had to wait for someone to come and let us in. Happy to overlook this little hiccup, as the accommodation on the second floor was very nice, with small touches like a welcome pack of slippers and chocolates. But that's where the Gem ended and the Disgrace began. We unpacked our belongings and went out, returning late at night to find that someone had been sleeping in our bed and their suitcase was in our room. The room we had booked had been given to someone else (they had our code - a very unsettling feeling and a security issue as our belongings and valuables were lying out) We contacted the owner, who said we could take the accommodation on the third floor. This accommodation was not clean! The bathroom was dirty, there was only one towel, no toilet paper, rubbish in the bins and hair all over the floor, plus used slippers at the door. The only clean thing was the sheets on the bed, or we would definitely have walked out. At no point did anyone come to check on this situation or the accommodation, but only sent messages. This was a very unprofessional way to run a business and it ruined our first experience of Toronto. Also the accommodation is only accessible via a very steep and narrow staircase. Definitely not recommended for any one with lots of luggage or unfit, these stairs are bad news. Would not recommend staying here.
