How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI hope the backstory about the property. And Alison had made so many intentional choices from stacks of meaningful literary novels to a lovely fresh home. Alison also went out of the way to try to find some guitar strings so my husband could play the instrument. She had the serve yourself tea and cookie station was also a nice touch.
There wasn’t much to not like about it. I would suggest that there was some more outdoor seating because it was a beautiful view and a lovely property and I would like to enjoy it more outside as well.
Thanks, Katy, it was lovely to meet you and host you both!

Verified reviewAllison's care to detail and desire to please her guest goes above and beyond what is the norm these days. Her breakfasts were outstanding. She even made a special trip to Charlottetown to get us more of the most delicious jams on day two of our stay, after we had commented on how delicious they were. The room we stayed in was beautifully appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. This was not the only lovely spot in the B & B, the whole home is beautifully decorated.
Thanks so much, Natasha! It was a pleasure meeting you and Tom! :)

Verified reviewThe location was beautiful and peaceful, with views over the water and mature trees and hydrangeas surrounding the inn. The inn is gorgeous — a cozy and charming heritage building with high ceilings and original architectural features, and beautiful decor. Allison is a truly wonderful hostess, so engaging and knowledgeable, a fabulous cook (breakfasts were outstanding!), and she had great recommendations for local sites, restaurants, and shopping.
We wish we could have stayed longer!
Thank you so much, Brenda, for your very kind words. Great to meet you and have you stay!

Verified reviewEverything! This is the first time I literally can't come up with any negatives. We have travelled a lot in the last 10 years...a variety of accommodations ...and the Library Inn was outstanding. Allison has created that fine balance of comfort without feeling uncomfortable!! Little touches like using local soap, local jams, help yourself to tea and cookies, the piles of books around to read, the spaces in which to sit and relax.....all these little extra touches have created such a sense of 'home' and 'acceptance' in this Inn. She is a brilliant host.....we had some great discussions about books...and life in general. We were sad to leave after our 3 days.
Nothing!!!!!
Marion/Judith and Andy, my two favourite kiwis … I’m so happy that you chose my place to shelter from the storm. Thank you for your very kind words and I hope one day you return and we can pick up where we left off. Take care, safe travels and all the best to you both!

Verified reviewAllison took great care of us! She texted or called when we were running late when we were out touring the island to make sure we didn't have any problems. She provided some great suggestions for restaurants and exploring the island. The breakfasts were made to order. The breakfast conversations with other guests was delightful!! The Library Inn was cozy and inviting.
Not being familiar with PEI, I didn't realize the Library Inn in Souris was so far from most of the things we planned to do. This was my fault for not researching more. We were happy with the quieter side of the island and thoroughly enjoyed the drives as we explored.
Thank you so much Kathryn. It was so lovely to meet you and have you stay! All the best!

Verified reviewThe perfect place to stay on PEI. Allison is an exceptionally attentive and kind host, who gave good recommendations for things to do locally, and looked after us fantastically with freshly cooked breakfasts each morning. We loved the room with a sea view and slept beautifully in the enormous bed. The living room with an open fire was a lovely touch, and one our best evenings was spent reading by the fire and drinking whiskey. Thanks so much Allison, we'll be recommending your place to all our friends!
Thank you so much, David. It makes me very happy to know that you had such a wonderful and memorable stay! It was a great pleasure to host you. All the best to you both!

Verified reviewThe house is beautiful and very spacious. Great location to Basin Head beach, and nice view to the harbor. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. You find boutique soap in the bathroom with fresh fragrances. The bedding, immaculate, and beautiful. And for the first time I found someone with the good sense of not making the beds in summer with a comforter that gives you unnecessary heat in the night but leaving it optional at the bottom of the bed if you want to use it. The breakfast is like no other since it is customized to the preferences of the guest. The host is superb. A lovely, attentive, sweet lady pending even the minimum details to make your stay a memorable experience. Is a pleasure to talk to her and hear her advice on literature. One of the best places I have ever stayed. Would give a score of 20 if available.
Having to leave!
Thank you so much, Maria, for these very kind words. It was a pleasure meeting you and tu familia!
