Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe room and the hotel are nothing like the pictures. The bathroom is very small. The carpets, furnitures and communal areas desperately need a renovation. They do provide breakfast service upon booking BUT they require a ridiculous “dress code” to access it (I got an email just two days before my staying about that). The elevator is being renovated, our room was on second floor but no one even offered to help us with our numerous luggages. Parking is two blocks away and costs 20cad x day. Overall they are very pretentious without any good reason to.
The room was spacious and the hotel is conveniently located walking distance from all the the attractions. Staff is nice.

It was a unique stay! More like staying at a museum! Love the lounge and library!!! The location is excellent, staff are friendly and helpful! Only small issue - no air condition, can be hot in the summer! However all worth it! As it was beautiful place as a base for holiday or work!

United StatesThere is a strict dress code. We are not dress up kind of people so the dress code was a bit of a pain and in several cases didn’t make a lot of sense. My only shoes were Hokas and those were specifically banned.
Everything was great, people, food, amenities like the reading room. It is like staying in a 1950 movie set. A place frozen in time.

CanadaSecured parking was off property, approximately 400m on another block … 5-7 mins walk. In addition, guests were required to return the electronic card reader immediately following retrieving car from secured, covered garage.

United KingdomA fabulous location. Walkable distances to shops and harbour attractions. Lovely to stay in a building that has history and good architectural features; a welcome change from the usual corporate style/lack lustre hotels. The breakfasts were very good and reasonably priced.

CanadaThe building is about 111 years old, so lacked some modern aspects, but was well maintained.
Breakfast was in a dining room with history. There were few others at the time we ate (7:30) so was quiet. The food was very well prepared and presented. It was excellent in all aspects, including price. The building was full of history in its interior design and its structure. The elevator was the 2nd oldest (perfectly) working elevator in North America. The room was spacious, the bed soft but comfortable and I had a good night's sleep without any aches in the morning.

United StatesThe dress code was just plain silly and felt a little oppressive. We certainly could dress nicely for dinner, but specifics, especially concerning shoes, seemed unnecessary and maybe not compatible with travel packing. The room was a little small, but very comfortable.
We had an excellent breakfast on our second day there. Very nice service and good food. The location was outstanding for walking around the main harbor area.

United KingdomIt would have been handy to have coffee/tea machines in our room. Otherwise we had to go downstairs for our coffee each morning. Also, the sofa bed in our suite needed more padding! Very hard on the back.
I liked how close it is to restaurants and the harbour. The club is quiet, and I appreciate how it’s the direct opposite of a huge, chain hotel. The people at reception are efficient and friendly. A hidden gem in the city.

United StatesThe historic building interesting and the facilities good. The location is great. We would consider staying again in cooler seasons.
I specifically called to ask about air conditioning because it was unclear online and was told yes there is A/C, but there was no A/C (the table fans don't count). It was ok because of the cool nights, but noisy drunks on yelling on Friday night.
