How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We were deeply disappointed with the room and lack of a view. Our window looked out onto the parking lot, with a sliver of ocean visible. The main entry into the building was directly in front of the window, with other guests walking in and out regularly, so we could not even keep the curtains open. The room was also cramped, with almost no space for luggage. We had booked early, and had been really looking forward to our stay. We expressed our concern to the owner, who responded that there was nothing she could do. We paid more for our stay here than at other beautiful inns with stunning views near Gros Morne and in St. Anthony, and would not recommend it.

Verified reviewRoom was clean and bright. Very nice bathroom. I would like to have had more cereal and pastry options that were not sweet. It would have been helpful to have instructions for the Keurig as we don’t use one at home. The location was very nice and the deck is a great place to relax on a nice day. If the weather is bad, the kitchen also has a great view
The mattress was very bouncy so you noticed any movement from your partner.

Verified reviewWe stayed three nights at The View, a beautiful aptly-named property in Triton, NL with a huge deck that overlooks the ocean. Jason and Larisa are the owners, and though they don't stay there, they live close by and visit every day, and sat to chat with us and the other guests who had gathered after dinner on the deck. Check in was a breeze, with codes for the front door and room door provided ahead of time. Home was absolutely spotless, bed was so comfortable, and the breakfast options (self-serve) were plentiful and delicious. We ate twice at the Bumblebee Bight Inn and Brewery (also owned by Jason and Larisa!) and had lobster that was delicious and rare for that time of year (none to be had in Twillingate!). The town of Triton is very cute and has a wonderful Sperm Whale museum with the best museum curator we've ever met, an ex-teacher named Terry. A great stay!
Honestly, I can't think of anything. A walkable distance to town would have been nice, but not essential. It was only a five-minute drive.

Verified reviewThe View is misnamed, it should be The Incredible View! Everything was wonderful, the choices for continental breakfast were boundless, Larisa and Jason couldn’t have been better hosts. The room was beautiful, everything needed was provided, extra clean (thanks Velma). The location unmatched, we saw whales from the huge deck. Friends were made in a couple of days. Triton was a prosperous, pretty town, with lots of interesting places. Finally, the spectacular VIEW, absolutely beautiful. Thank you.
From St Johns the drive took over 7 hours, either fly into Gander, or split your trip and stay half way en route for a night. A few pesky mosquitoes on the deck in the evening

Verified reviewQuite frankly I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. The views from the room and downstairs veranda were spectacular. The quality of the fixtures and fittings are high end - the owners, Larisa and her husband, obviously have put a lot of love and thought into the place and are made us feel so welcome. Good choice of goodies in the fridge for breakfast - I wasn't expecting that. The room was so comfortable - just spent the evening watching the sun going down. The moon reflecting on the water was magical and we saw a whale from our room. With hindsight I would have stayed more than just the one night.

Verified reviewThe location of the View and Breakfast Suites was absolutely superb. I sat out on the chairs and took in the beauty. I also got to see a whale far off in the distance. The room was extremely clean and tidy. Beautiful property! Continental breakfast selection overall was very good and well stocked.
It was warm so we had to keep our window open in Room # 3. It was located just above the door entrance. It was a little noisy with the high pitch sound when guests where entering the house. Many guests had quite a lot of difficulty using the key pad for some reason. Also a car parked outside the door and left it running for a good 15 minutes. Had to close window as fumes were entering room. Once the evening settled into night, it was quiet for sleeping. The website states that there was complimentary toiletries and bathrobes. There were no bathrobes and the only toiletry in room was a large bottle of handwash. Fortunately I did not need toiletries or bathrobes. Maybe website needs to be updated. I have a well on my property so I know the challenges of having good tasting water. I would recommend installing a reverse osmosis system for the drinking water. I installed one and the drinking water is now crystal clear.
