Reviews of Van Nest near YVR UBC Downtown

The entrance of the room is through an indoor swimming pool in a basement. The steam of the pool makes the room inhabitable due to the temperature and the humidity. There is no airco. The access to the room via an indoor pool is not convenient.

Very poor I booked for 2 night but did not stay there at all. Will not recommend anyone either. They even didn't refund the money

Location, staff environment, smell

The location was good.

The quadruple room is next to an indoor pool with swimming class for kids. No privacy at all. People make a lot of noise making breakfast at 6:30 behind your other door. Totally unacceptable and terrible.

Location, room located in very nice house, however in celar, no day light and without windows

Room was very small, hardly to move or stay in, during our stay, toilet was broken, so we need to share with orher guests. Free bicycles also not availible, broken, lack of security - no locks on main gate, main door. Price very high, poor service, room and quality. Shame to rent this out for such price, booking.com shall remove it from web side/offerings and batter check what you offer to your customers.

No reception or staff/person in charge The person we spoke to had next to no English and wasn't employed there No toilet/shower in room only communal by swimming pool Shower not clean, disgusting, holes in shower wall, tiles missing No information as to where to go for a meal or shopping, and nothing available close by. More like a boarding house upstairs and 3 rooms for short term stay through this booking site No breakfast apart from tea/coffee & cereal, which smelled old. No milk. Not as central and easy to get to as made out in advert Long way to walk for nearest restaurant and grocery shopping

Location and price, if we got what we were told we were paying for.

Many things were broken in the bathrooms. The walls had tiles coming off, the toilet didn’t flush well. All the windows could not open as The latches were broken. The lock on the door was defective and we couldn’t get in and we had to wait for 15 minutes for somebody to arrive to let us in.

Lovely house in a wonderful neighbourhood, feels very safe. Short walk to a lovely village with lots of nice shops. Good WiFi connection.

The shower room was through the swimming pool area. It was difficult to access and the toilet had no lock and was shared with another double room. The breakfast facilities were basic. Fabulous sized screen for TV but no TV or instructions

Comfy bed, fairly close to the airport (rental car!) Pet friendly.

The shower room was really dirty and far away. The toilet facilities were also quite far and no shelf to put our things, and it looks like they were in the middle of renovations in the bathroom with dry wall cut out electrical panelling exposed, broken towel rail and toilet roll holder. The gated entrance to the property was falling off the hinges and the door to the property was also broken. It all seemed quite run down and uninterested in maintenance. Although the host was really nice it felt quite unpleasant to stay there. There were swimming lessons being held in the pool literally next door (with a window partition to the room) and so it was very noisy and lots of people coming and going. In the evening upon our return there was a man silently walking around inside the property and although it turns out he is the swimming instructor, it would have been nice for the hosts to have warned us that he would be there and that the complex would have so much public footfall.

Room was nice and location near airport good. Water and snacks in room appreciated.

Lack of lighting getting around garden in dark. Instructions didn't explain the code to get in was on handle of door but only lit up when touched a certain way. Maybe that's common, but I've never come across it. There was bread in the kitchen area when I arrived but not the next morning. Was also no butter. I understand Vancouver is expensive but for a bedroom with shared bathroom it seems a lot.

Facilities says there is hot tub and swimming pool but it’s only a display at all to attract customers.Can’t used it ,and the people living there are keep on walking no privacy.
