How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewThis is in a perfect neighborhood. It's extremely beautiful outside, with views onto the water and some of the islands. And it's about a block from a supermarket, though right by the hotel it's pretty empty outside. For Tofino in the summertime, the price was pretty good.
While they do give you a towel, there isn't any soap or shampoo in the shared bathrooms, which we hadn't realized. There aren't private bathrooms here, as far as we could tell.

Verified reviewView was fantastic. Communal dining room had excellent views of the bay and kitchen was well equipped, onsite parking was useful as there’s not much in the town.
The fact it’s a hostel makes the price very expensive. The noise wasn’t great either, Corridor carpet didn’t soak up noise of people walking during the night and other rooms were noisy with no staff ensuring it was quiet. Thin walls meant we could hear neighbours in adjacent rooms climbing into bunks.

It appears there may have been a misunderstanding during the booking process. You made your reservation for our Suite with a 2-piece bathroom (toilet and sink), which was clearly described on Booking.com, along with photos of the exact room. While we do offer a suite with a full bathroom and balcony, that was not the room type you booked. We understand how frustrating it can be when the room does not match what was expected. We would have been happy to offer you our balcony suite, but unfortunately it was already fully booked by the time of your arrival. We also want to clarify a few other points mentioned: – Bathrooms: Your suite did have a private 2-piece bathroom (toilet and sink) as described, with access to shared showers just across the hallway. – Parking: Parking is available on-site for a small fee and is first-come, first-serve - as noted on our listing. We did put a parking permit aside for you but you did not pick it up at our front desk during your stay. – Room cleaning: To respect the privacy of our guests, we do not enter rooms for daily cleaning unless requested. We explain this clearly at check-in and it this information is also printed on the little check-in info sheets we hand out with your keys. We are always happy to provide stay-over service if guests let our team know theyd like it. – Food in rooms: To help keep our rooms clean and comfortable for all guests, we ask that meals be enjoyed in our designated dining areas. We have a spacious dining room with beautiful ocean views where guests are welcome to eat and relax. – Kitchen use: Our shared kitchen is a popular space, particularly at mealtimes, and we do provide an outdoor BBQ and kitchen as an alternative during busier times. Verified reviewI absolutely loved staying at this beautiful accomodation. Magnificent views of the Trofino inlets and islands. CLose to everything. For example a short walk to many of the tours, Cafes, Resturants, and Art Galleries. All fhe staff were fantastic, organized, efficent, friendly and helpfull in every way. Some challenges with parking. The park that we had been allocated the next day had someone else parked there, so we had to park in the disabled car park overnight, as per staff directions.

Verified reviewThe view from the main lounge / dining area is amazing. The place has a nice 'renovated beach house' charm and is in a great location for restaurants and activities.
Parking is a bit of a nightmare. A 5pm check-in, 10am check-out and paid parking is pretty steep for the price. The shower / bathrooms didn't feel very clean considering the cost and limited time you actually have for you booking.

Verified reviewThe location was such that we could walk to the down town of Tofino and enjoy the waterfront and restaurants.
The echoing of noise through the hallways was quite loud and kept us from sleeping. Even though we had a private room the constant noise of guests in and out of the shared bathroom all night long was disruptive to our sleep. Also the guests arriving home later at night and talking loudly in the hallways was disrespectful.
