Our stay at Adler Hotel was one we will always remember! The location was fantastic and the building itself has so much history and charm. On top of all of that, Matthias at the front desk was so incredibly helpful and kind to us. He gave us fantastic recommendations for hiking, helped us with dinner reservations, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time in Appenzell. When we find ourselves back in Switzerland, we will absolutely be coming back to the Adler.

My brother and I had a fantastic stay at the Adler Hotel and we loved every minute. Super clean, hospitable and enjoyable. The team, including the warm cafe staff, made us welcome from the moment we arrived. A special thanks to Matjaz - an incredible host who really went the extra mile to make our stay so memorable. The rooms were quite hot, but we were able to open the terrace door and windows which cooled down the room.

Lovely old hotel, but with modernised rooms. We arrived quite late, and they left our room key with a hand written personal post card.

The hotel is right in the city center and 5 min walk from the main station. You have all the needed amenities and a wonderful staff that is paying extra attention to every detail. I definitely recommend staying here while visiting Appenzell or the surrounding areas.

We loved everything about our stay. The suite that we lived in was very large, enough for the 3 of us. It had a piano that my son enjoyed playing as well. The family owners and staff were the most hospitable, ensuring that we had a very memorable experience. We were also provided with a portable air conditioner in case it got warmer. We had stayed 3 nights, so enjoyed a special tourist card with free transport, cable car rides, cheese factory entry, and many discounts. We also were given free transport from the airport to the town.

The service was brilliant, everyone was very kind and welcoming. Our bedroom had the most comfortable bed and the shower in the bathroom was very powerful. The room was cleaned to a very high standard and the toiletries were really lovely. Our bedroom looked out over the restaurant and we left our window open during the night to hear the water flowing I'm the river opposite. Appenzell itself is so pretty and everyone is very proud both of the hotel and the local area. Breakfast was also delicious. We would come back Thank you so much for looking after us

Our room had three, double windows with a beautiful view and a fan was already in the room. The temps are cooler in Appenzell also, so it was the best night’s sleep in a 3 week trip. We could see the sun rise from our bed as well. Very convenient to the Ebenalp hiking area, which was beautiful. The breakfast was good as well.

Very good location, just a few minutes from the train station. Clean, freshly renovated rooms. Nice and helpful staff. You have all you need, and if not, you can ask. I recommend it!

Matjaz, one of the sons of the hotel owner is one of the kindest, most welcoming people I have met in Switzerland. He went out of his way to be sure that my stay was comfortable, and when I could not find a rental bike, he was kind enough to lend me his own personal ebike. he made sure that I had sunscreen and a pool towel when I decided to go to the Appenzell freiswimbad! I hesitate to mention all of this because I’m sure that he could not offer such consideration to every one of his guests, but I will say that you meet the very kindest of Swiss people in Appenzell. For these and other reasons, I would certainly make Appenzell a-must go destination on my Switzerland list!

The owner Matjaz was so nice and helpful. He even made us a special fondue dinner even though it was closed for the season. It was very hot in Appenzell and he set up a fan prior to our arrival. We stayed in one of the suites which was large and charmingly decorated. The restaurant downstairs was very good. I highly recommend staying in this hotel

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff is attentive and friendly, especially Matthew at reception who made sure that we had everything we needed. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is in a very good location, close to the train station, restaurants, shopping, etc.
