How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Dear Renzo We apologize for any inconvenience caused because you were unaware that our 400 year old Chalet does not have an elevator. We also apologize that we were not aware of your age, or we could have reserved a room on a lower floor for you. Kind regards from the Alpenblick Team.

Verified reviewRestaurant was excellent.
The outside is really cute. However, only a couple rooms are renovated w air conditioning. This was not disclosed in the booking description. It was August and 90° out. My single room was awful. It was incredibly small with bed, table, small wardrobe closet. I cleared everything of the small table to set my suitcase (26 inch) as there was not even floor room for it. It was quite hot and the hotel charges daily for use of a fan. No elevator or help with luggage which I could live with but I had 3 flights of very narrow, poorly lit curved steps. If you are mobility impaired in ANY way I would avoid this property. Dusty clutter everywhere...stuffed animals in a pram, messy porcelain dolls on chairs, dust covered knick knacks. Not charming; more like creepy. It was not inexpensive either.
Dear Marsha Thank you for your visit and feedback. We are sorry to read, that you did not enjoy our 400 year old Chalet. For any inconveniences which may have been caused to you due to the heat wave, we sincerely apologize. Kind regards from the Alpenblick Team.

Verified reviewVery small. Selections were limited. Staff seem grumpy. Quality of food was ok. Nothing special.
Had to argue with the staff to get a room that we had request to get AC. My sister in law had a single room that was so small you couldn't hardly turn around. It was 90+ degrees and they wanted to charge $10 a day for a fan. Location was not good. No way I could walk from the train station to the hotel. Only 1 other restaurant within blocks of here.
Dear Donald Thank you for your visit and feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience caused due to the heat wave. As an alternavice, autumn is also a very nice time to visit and much cooler. Kind regards from the Alpenblick Team.

Verified reviewThe stuff is super-friendly. The location is perfect for a trip to Interlaken and it's connected to everything. As soon as you arrive they give you your passes for all buses in the area so you can travel safely and comfortably. Breakfast was super-complete. We'll return, that's for sure.
Dear elbrujohalcom Thank you for your visit and feedback. We are very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and in the Jungfrau Region. Looking forward to your next visit. Kind regards from the Alpenblick Team.

Verified reviewVery old property.
The owner’s attitude was very disappointing. On our first day, we arrived late and found the entry door locked. While the owner did open the door, she seemed very annoyed and told us we should have left our room key at reception—something that was never explained to us beforehand. We completely understand that staff can sometimes forget to mention things, but instead of acknowledging that, the owner spoke in a very uncomfortable and unfriendly tone, without considering that it was her staff’s mistake. A good owner should take responsibility when their team fails to inform guests properly, rather than making the customer feel at fault.
Dear Vinayak Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you because you did not realize that you need your room card for entry after 10 p.m. We have re-instructed our Reception team to assure this will not re-occur. Kind regards from the Alpenblick Team.

Verified reviewThis hotel was extremely disappointing. Despite being listed as three stars, the experience felt closer to one. There was no air conditioning, and when we asked for a fan, they wanted to charge an additional 10 francs per day for rental. The bathroom had no shampoo or conditioner, just a thin all-in-one liquid soap. Extra towels were not provided, and there were no outlets near the beds. The hotel also doesn’t offer basic amenities like an iron, fridge, or microwave. We even had to leave our food at a nearby restaurant because of the lack of storage. To make matters worse, there was no ice available for drinks and only a single shared kettle for all guests to use. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. Save your money and book somewhere else—you’ll thank yourself later.
Dear Mr. Raza Thank you for your feedback. Due to the age of our traditional 400 year old Bernese Highland Chalet, we are not allowed to have any of the amenities like iron, hot water kettle, refrigerators, etc. in the rooms for insurance purposes. For this reason, we provide laundry service with a bag and list in each room, a Station in the Bar area of the first floor in the main Chalet with a kettle for everyone's use and Service at our Reception for Refrigeration possibilities. We do not use Microwaves in our kitchen. The Ventilator fee is a rental. In our bathrooms we provide a shower shampoo/gel for use. We understand that our traditional Chalet is not everybody's cup of tea and are aware that some guests prefer more modern Hotels in the City. Many travellers, however, seek the authentic Swiss experience we provide. We apologize for any inconveniences which may have been caused to you. Kind regards from the Alpenblick Team.

Verified reviewIt's an old chalet that is likely going to go down well with an older crowd looking for history but definitely not for the modern traveller. The property is ageing and not a great choice for summer months.
Overall it wasn't a good experience. The room was small and an attic conversion, no balcony and when we asked for a room with a balcony; it was denied. It was unbearably hot 2 days and the room was small and boiling hot! When we asked for a fan; it was provided to us at an extra cost of 20CHF! That was ridiculous considering we spent 2 sleepless days at this hotel due to extreme heat and poor ventilation in the room. Breakfast was average too, all cold items only. The nearest station is Wilderswil that is a 10 to 12 minute walk from the hotel. Avoidable hotel and too expensive for the amenities provided.
Dear Robin Thank you for your visit and feedback. We are sorry to read, that our traditional Bernese Highland Chalet did not meet your expectations. Our Hotel represents unique Swiss tradition in the Jungfrau Region, we understand however that this is not for everyone's taste. You will also be able to find modern Hotels in the cities. Kind regards from the Alpenblick Team.

Verified reviewI stayed at Alpenblick Hotel hoping for a relaxing countryside experience, but unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. The property is located in a quiet rural town, which offers some charm, but the building itself is an old house that feels dated and not well maintained. Cleanliness was below standard — both in the room and common areas — and the lack of air conditioning made the stay uncomfortable, especially during warm weather. The layout and amenities were not convenient for guests, which added to the overall discomfort. With proper maintenance, improved cleanliness, and some basic upgrades, this hotel could make much better use of its location. Unfortunately, in its current state, I would not recommend it.

Dining area and outdoor terrace comfortable and inviting. Staff is pleasant, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the surroundings, where to go what to do. Ten minute bus to Interlaken center. Will definitely return to this lodge next visit.

Verified reviewI think the facilities this hotel provides for the amount of money they charge is unreasonable. The rooms are not at all spacious, with no ventilation. Table fans are charged extra 10CHF per night. The lighting is extremely poor. My wife has a claustrophobic event in the room. The beds are horrible. We had to leave on the third night and book another hotel in interlaken west.

Verified reviewI had a disappointing experience here. All the rooms are very different from each other - I was given Room 4, which was quite small and right in front of the common washrooms. Despite requesting a change, it wasn't accommodated. The room was extremely hot, with no air conditioning (some other rooms have it), and I was charged 10 francs per night just for a table fan. You can find properties in Interlaken for similar prices, which would be much more convenient for travel and connections. I would recommend avoiding Room 4 at the very least.
