How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Rooms had no adequate lighting, with extremely poor ventilation and air flow. The room was extremely hot and stuffy, which meant that were not able to sleep well. Our patio overlooking the lake was lovely, but way too hot. We were located directly over the restaurant on the 2nd floor....very noisy with too much cigarette smoke coming up into our room. Our refrigerator did not work...and we had to request ice from restaurant, which was not available one of the nights. We feel that the cost was extremely high for the poor accommodations.

Please allow us to clarify: All our rooms are equipped with modern refrigerators, which are designed to keep drinks cool but do not include a freezer compartment. Our ventilation and temperature comfort may vary during warmer weeks. As we do not currently have air conditioning due to the building’s energy concept, we offer fans and other comfort solutions on request. Regarding ice – this is available from our restaurant during opening hours, and Karin ensured everything was arranged promptly. The terrace view over Lake Lucerne is one of our most celebrated features, but we understand that sun exposure can be intense in summer. We are constantly seeking ways to enhance guest comfort here, too. It’s unfortunate that our setting above the restaurant wasn’t the right fit for you – most guests love the vibrant atmosphere and stunning views, but personal preferences always matter. Free parking in the Garage below the hotel, with lift access back to the room. Great menu in the restaurant & the food was delicious. Great range of continental breakfast items
Restaurant was pricey imho. 33CHF (£30) for a Burger & Fries - although it was very tasty! The seal on the shower cubicle leaked in my room, so consequently water spread right across the floor. Not a huge issue, but I informed Reception so they could at least try to repair it.

Verified reviewThe hotel features beautifully designed rooms with wooden decor and ceilings that create a warm, cozy atmosphere. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the views from the balcony were absolutely breathtaking. There is both outdoor parking and an underground garage available — and the best part is, parking is completely free. A COOP supermarket is located just across the street, which is very convenient. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the ferry to Lucerne.
The only downside is the lack of air conditioning. My room had a fan, which helped a little. Luckily, the weather was surprisingly cool for July during my stay. However, I can imagine it could get uncomfortable during hotter days.

When I arrived at the hotel, I had many bags with me, but there was no assistance or porter service to help carry them to the room. The breakfast was extremely basic with very limited options – definitely not up to standard for the price. As soon as I entered the room, I noticed a serious issue in the bathroom: the shower had no curtain or glass door, so water would spread all over the bathroom floor. There was also a water leakage problem from the start. I reported it immediately, but instead of addressing the issue, the hotel staff accused me of causing the problem! A long argument followed, and they first demanded I pay 1,000 CHF, then decreased it to 500 CHF – a clear scam attempt. I refused to pay and asked them to call the police to resolve it. During the argument, the receptionist and the person in charge started insulting me in their local language – it was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Eventually, they dropped the issue and I returned to my country. But later, I received an email from the hotel demanding I pay 500 CHF! Unbelievable. To make matters worse, there was no housekeeping service during my stay. One of the cleaning staff entered the room just to take the towels and cups, without cleaning anything. The hotel’s behavior was unacceptable, customer service was terrible, and the overall experience was very stressful. I strongly advise others to avoid this hotel.

First and foremost: we take all guest concerns seriously – but in this case, we must clearly correct the record. Upon check-out, significant damage was found in your room, including a big burn mark on the floor caused by a cooking pot used inside the room – something that is strictly prohibited in all hotels for safety reasons. We have documentation and photos of the damage. Despite this serious violation, we tried to find an amicable solution and proposed only a partial cost coverage of CHF 500 – which does not cover the full cost of repair. Unfortunately, instead of taking responsibility, you chose to accuse our team of a “scam” – which we strongly reject. No one insulted you, and our staff remained professional throughout the situation. Regarding the room: all bathrooms are clearly shown on booking platforms. We offer daily housekeeping and friendly, multilingual service, and our breakfast offers a high-quality Swiss continental selection. It is disappointing that you now attempt to damage our reputation despite having caused clear damage to hotel property. The property feels outdated, with only a few areas such as the reception, restaurant, and in-room bathrooms appearing to have been recently renovated and looked nice. However, the most disappointing part of our stay was the double room with a village view, which had no air circulation - a serious issue on a hot summer day. The hotel has no air conditioning, and we were provided with a fan that did very little to help. The air felt stagnant in the small room. The windows could only be opened slightly, and evening staff did not have access to a key to open them fully. We were told that the hotel was fully booked, so we couldn’t change rooms. As a result, we had to spend the night in these uncomfortable conditions. This caused significant stress for our dog, who was breathing heavily all night, and for me - as I’m six months pregnant - resulting in a sleepless night and serious discomfort due to the lack of fresh air. Unfortunately, we find it hard to understand how this property maintains a 4-star rating, as it does not match the standard of other 4-star hotels we have stayed in. We originally booked for two nights but ended up checking out early after just one night.

Our hotel, like many traditional Swiss buildings, was originally designed without air conditioning, as it was historically not needed in our alpine climate.
