How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStaff who were very caring and attentive. Amazing views, clean room that had everything I needed. Wengen itself is very well connected, allowing you to travel anywhere within the region with a lot of ease.

Rooms are very small.

Verified reviewSuch a cute hotel, the views are absolutely stunning!! Breakfast was so tasty and fresh and the staff were so kind and efficient. The room was clean and had a little balcony, which was lovely in the evening. Small hill up to the accomodation but a really scenic walk so wasn't difficult. Loved this stay!
Nothing - really great accom!

Verified reviewThe location was perfect, and the view from our room and balcony was absolutely magical. I could fall asleep and wake up with the mountains right in front of me — which means so much to me as someone from Nepal. We originally booked for just two nights and three days, but we loved it so much that we decided to extend our stay. For the extra days, the hotel staff kindly upgraded us to a bigger and better apartment. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were always warm and welcoming. I truly wish we could have stayed longer. My boyfriend and I had the best vacation we’ve ever had together.

Verified reviewBeautiful location, excellent view, far enough from city center to enjoy calm evenings without the noise from bars downtown (only during high season), very friendly and helpful staff, decent breakfast with incredible view both of garden or the mountains. The hotel‘s name keeps its promise: the Alp‘s Serenity.

Verified reviewOne of the most heartwarming places. The view from the rooms was amazing, and the bed was very soft and comfortable. The train station pick-up and drop-off were arranged in a very professional way, and the station is just a 10-minute walk away. The surrounding area is very nice and calm. Highly recommended for relaxing.
All went perfectly well

The staff is amazing, the breakfast is extraordinary, the service superb, the room for 3 was extremely comfortable, the views stunning, the property is great condition, very clean immaculate hotel. The ride to and from train station very good. The guest rooms very pretty and nicely decorated. Nothing major to complain about it.

Verified reviewThis hotel definitely exceeded my expectations. It is well located, a bit uphill, but only 8-9 min walk from Wengen train station. My room had an amazing mountain view, i cannot even describe how mesmerizing it was. Everything was super clean and well functioning in the room. The owners and the staff are very friendly and ready to help if you need anything. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Verified reviewThe most amazing views I’ve ever had from a hotel room. The balcony was an amazing place to just sit. Even in the rain because it was covered. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. And the offer of a bus to and from the station with our large bags was really great given it is up a bit of a hill.
Like everywhere in Wengen (and Switzerland), it’s very expensive, particularly by Australian standards. But it’s comparable to other Swiss hotels. And for what you get with the location, I’d happily pay it again.

Verified reviewStunning location in the Bernese Oberland. Wengan is perched high above Lauterbrunnen's famous "Valley of the Waterfalls." The hotel is located towards the top (and quieter) end of Wengan) with our hotel window gaving a direct veiw over the Lauterbrunnen valley and the lofty peak of the Junfrau mountain dominating the skyline. Wengan is (virtually) a vehicle free zone but travel to the hotel is well serviced by the excellent Wengernalp Railway (with services running frequently between between Lauterbrunnen and Wengen (and onwards to Kleine Scheidegg (2,061m above sea level) and Grindelwald) and the hotel provide and exceelent service in ferrying guests to and from the train station. Highly recommended as a great location for exploring this stunning region.

Verified reviewThe amazing mountain and valley views from my room, the quiet and peaceful location away from the busier part of Wengen, the central location to public transport around the Jungfrau region, comfortable and clean, lovely and friendly hotel staff
Nothing really, maybe some slightly more comfortable chairs for the balconies might be nice, or a cushion to put on them. Such a small thing! Not important at all.

Verified reviewMy stay at Alpenruhe was like a dream. The views were spectacular, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. They couldn't have been nicer. The room was above expectation with a lovely balcony (have i mentioned the stunning view?) The staff picked me up and dropped me off at the train station so that made it easy. The town is beautiful, the walks in the area just perfect with wide tracks, through forests and stunning scenery. I couldn't have had a more perfect stay.

Verified reviewThe views from the balcony and the surroundings are beautiful and relaxing. Breakfast was good and adequate. Facilities and guest rooms in good working order and clean. The village of Wengen has a very nice ambiance, convenient access to the valley and the mountains, best of both worlds!
Location is uphill from the town center and the train station, could be specially hard at the end of a long exploration day. Definitely arrange a shuttle with the hotel if carrying luggage. Rooms are small since they are intended for a minimal overnight stay, which is expected since you spend most of your day outdoors. However bathrooms finishes and equipment feel definitely outdated.
