Noisy bathroom fan. Thin hard towels. Very mediocre breakfast

Quiet area just outside town. Perfectly connected by fantastic bus services to everything. Cheap safe car parking in front of hotel. Fabulous lake bathing area at 50m. Comfortable beds, good room cleanliness, functional bathroom. Super internet, good tv functionality.

No air conditioning: with global warming, fans are not enough. Summer duvets instead of sheets. Towels had seen better days. Single use toiletries instead of dispensers. No staff on Sunday afternoon or after 10pm. No owners visible. Mediocre quality breakfast - juice needs improvement, no scrambled eggs.

Hotel Alpha Thun Review The whole property feels quite dated. Our room was on the third floor, but the elevator only goes up to the second—thankfully we were traveling light. The hallway had a flickering light and a very worn-out carpet that made the space feel neglected. The wooden flooring inside the room was a relief; carpet would have made it feel even less clean. The room itself was reasonably clean but lacked power outlets and had a very old TV. Towels were thin and tired-looking. There was a faint wood smell in the room—not unpleasant—but the bathroom had an intermittent unpleasant odor that came in occasional whiffs. The tilted roof window was as expected, and while I understand the exterior is difficult to keep clean, the interior—specifically around the exhaust vent area—was filled with visible rubbish (see photo). The bed was a major downside: a soft, low-quality IKEA mattress, an awkwardly soft pillow, and a metal bed frame that squeaked with the slightest movement. Breakfast was minimal, with a very limited selection. The one positive was the location—right in front of a bus stop with frequent service. We stayed two nights in Thun, and our other hotel on the opposite side of the river was significantly better at the same price point. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Alpha Thun.

Nice location close to the lake and possibility for a swim. Bus stop right next to the hotel. Staff was friendly.

Room was quite small for two people but ok for a few nights stay.

Very warm welcoming hotel and the room was excellent. Great location and easy to get to/from the centre. Bus Stop is right outside the hotel. Access to Lake Thun is a couple of minutes away on foot. Breakfast selection was great. Overall highly recommended.

The hotel is placed very central. 20min walking distance from the station. For just a night quite nice especially as it is super close to the Thuner Seespiele - 5min walk.

The price is super expensive for its conditions. The bathroom in my room wasn’t really clean and the sockets haven’t been working so no chance to charge batteries.

The staff at the reception wasn’t welcoming, the room small, the bathroom old and the toilet had yellow stains. Breakfast was very poor with limited selection.

Friendly staff. We liked that we could check in ourselves, as we arrived when the reception was closed.

There was rubbish left in the trash can, which raises doubts as to whether the room had been properly cleaned after the previous guests. Late in the evening, the hot water in the shower ran out. The shower curtain did not prevent water from getting on the floor, i.e. the bathroom was flooded after showering. A hairdryer was left in the room, but it was not possible to turn it on because the plug did not fit the socket. If you provide a hair dryer, you should ensure that it can be used. When I realized at 11 p.m. that my hair was wet and I couldn't turn on the hair dryer, and I couldn't get an adapter because the reception was already closed, I felt really uncomfortable.

Rooms were old but clean, the breakfast had limited options but good enough. Location was excellent, easily accessible by bus and close to the lake. Staff at the breakfast and restaurant were super kind and friendly.

The lady at the reception was clearly distracted and impatient. We did not feel welcomed during check-in and throughout our multiple interactions with her over several days. She did not offer the free bus pass that was included in the booking to us and got obviously annoyed we asked about this.

They served breakfast and it was good but no hot meals. Thun travel card allow for local public transport free. They have a lift to go for upper floors.

Slightly expensive, limited reception opening time.

Great location just across the lake with any easy bus ride into Thun or to Spiez.
