Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe stairs were very windy, which made carrying a suitcase to and from the top floor hard work. This is not a complaint, just something that needs to be borne in mind.
An attractive location, in an historic building. The small kitchen area was useful, and there were plenty ofcrockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

AustraliaGetting luggage up the spiral staircase to the fourth floor - lucky it only had to be done once.
Loft apartment room in old building right in the middle of the old town, a lot of character and well equipped which meant that It was possible to cook all meals. Had one window which could be open which was good to cool the room down at the end of the day. I found this room to be very quiet, not at all distracted by clock tower chiming. Within walking distance of station. Accommodation provides access to the Neuchatel guest card enabling free travel.

CanadaThe layout of the furniture was awful. This could be done so much better! The bar takes up a fair bit of space, and is also poorly laid out. Fortunately we weren't using this for other than sleeping, but this place could be SO much nicer if a bit more thought went into these areas.
The character of the suite was exceptional. The location was superb. The shower was very good, toilet flushed well and bathroom was large. The view was excellent down into the square and towards the fountains.

GermanyThe smell of meatburgers from a restaurant downstairs. And of course you must keep in mind, there is no parking near the hotel. You will have to leave your car in the parkhouse (which is not very far away, just 300m), but you have to pay about CHF 24. Also you must be prepared to climb to the 3rd floor, there is no elevator in this old building.
The location is great! The room is not big but warm (we were in winter) and cozy. The bed is comfy. The kitchenette has everything (except the bottle opener). The TV is big. You contact the personnel only via messages. They send you all the instructions how to get to the room and a card to use public transport and museums free (not all museums accept it though, we had to pay 50% in the Roman museum). The 1st Sunday of the month is when you visit nearly all museums in Switzerland free of charge.

IrelandEverything was great. We didn't meet anyone, to thank them as it was self service to checking and out. However everything was clearly communicated via email.
A fabulous bedroom , beds ,bar / kitchette dinning table area, large TV, wifi, a beautiful shower. The hotel is very central, near the shops, fabulous crepe cafe, a short distance from the lake,.When staying in the hotel we all received a book of tourist tickets. This was a lovely touch & enabled the family to partake in more local attractions. Boat trips, museums etc.

United KingdomIf on holiday for a rest. No good. Chamber Rhubarbe very noisy at night. Mornings horrendous from 7am. Entrance to the kitchen always open and dirty with wet tea towels in the narrow spiral staircase soaking up water. Couldn't find entrance to their restaurant. Parking very very expensive. Not close by which makes walking to the hotel with suitcases not fun €32 overnight parking.
Location was good, in the historic part.

SwitzerlandThere is no person at the check in, which is not a problem. But when I texted where we can lock our bikes, they never responded. Even when we booked we said we would come on bikes. They should have told us there was no place to put the bikes for the night.

United StatesWasn’t aware that there was no lift, so we were surprised having to carry our luggage up a narrow circular staircase for 4 flights. Also, a floor stand fan qualified as air conditioning. However, these minor inconveniences would not keep us from staying here again.

United KingdomThere were 56 steps up to the room, so perhaps not for those to whom this would be a problem – but not a real problem for most people.
A really characterful room on the top floor of an historic building in the centre of the historic part of town. Excellent catering facilities within the room and good shower etc. A high quality fan (with quiet 'night-time' setting) was supplied for warm nights. Excellent communication with owner, who supplied the town's 'Tourist card' giving many concessions, including a wonderful cruise on Lake Neuchatel, which we very much enjoyed. Superb central location.
