Lack of AC wasn’t amazing, we were provided a fan which worked very well anyhow

The location was fantastic. The small loft apartment had all the amenities we needed. For cozy and easy to stay for multiple nights.

An attractive location, in an historic building. The small kitchen area was useful, and there were plenty ofcrockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

The stairs were very windy, which made carrying a suitcase to and from the top floor hard work. This is not a complaint, just something that needs to be borne in mind.

Loft apartment room in old building right in the middle of the old town, a lot of character and well equipped which meant that It was possible to cook all meals. Had one window which could be open which was good to cool the room down at the end of the day. I found this room to be very quiet, not at all distracted by clock tower chiming. Within walking distance of station. Accommodation provides access to the Neuchatel guest card enabling free travel.

Getting luggage up the spiral staircase to the fourth floor - lucky it only had to be done once.

We had a wonderful experience staying at this property! The accommodation was perfect for our family, and the kids really enjoyed their time here. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, with everything we needed. The location was great too, with plenty of cafes and shops in the old town.

    Nice location, friendly stuff.

Poor soundproofing, we could hear everything the neighbours were doing.

Was at least safe and somewhat comfortable

No elevator so many flights of steep narrow stairs. Definitely not for anyone with mobility issues. Also-must be comfortable with remote check in. Bathroom was in need of updating and cleaning. Shower had some mold. No parking anywhere close by.

Central, clean rooms and nice neighbourhood

Difficulties entering building and room. Did not receive the code (psw) due to lack of Wifi on cellular phone. Phonecall to owner solved the issue.

Location and charm of the old building

The double bed wasn't firm enough and my wife and I gravitated towards the centre of the mattress.

Perfect location, easy to access, the rooms are large, with a table and a small kitchen. It was just perfect for my stay, 5 minutes from the lake and 5 minutes from the bus, in the heart of the city!

We stayed at the Au Chambres du Banneret in Jan 2025 for 1 night as part of our road trip through Switzerland. The accommodation is basically a chambre d'hotes with key self-service (you receive the details via whatapp, there is a key board in the second floor, code for opening the key board and how to release the key for the room are provided in a WhatsApp message). We booked the accommodation spontaneously, basically 1 hour before our arrival. Despite this short notice we received the message with all the details within 40mins. The building seems to be a former guest house, with a bar in the basement, an (excellent) restaurant in the first floor, and several individual rooms in the 2nd and 3rd floor. The bar, the restaurant and the chambre d'hotes are completely separate, so do not bother asking there in case you have a question or need help, instead you have to send a message via whatsapp. But replies are very fast. The rooms are nicely renovated. Not big but functional and nice style (our room even had an old medieval mural at the wall protected by a glass plate! very nice!). Despite the small size the room even had a small cooking corner with a sink, cooking plate, microwave, tea boiler and a capsule coffee machine. The accommodation is very central in the downtown pedestrian zone: the Chateau, restaurants, the lake side are all in easy walking distance. No parking or access by car. Hint: we parked in rue de l'Evole. The blue parking zone starts from the corner Rue de l'Oriette (free parking in the night). Beware: As it is an old building the accommodation has no lift, instead you have carry your luggage up the small stairs, but absolutely ok if you travel light or have no problems with getting your luggage up. As a positive surprise: at least when we traveled- we received from the accommodation the Neuchâtel Tourist card, which gives free access to museums and public transport!

nothing really (apart from the experience that with 1 day in Neuchâtel our stay was definitely too short. ;-). Will come back.
