How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe only thing that was good was location
This is really a hostile not a hotel .Communication is done by telephone when you have tried calling at least 6 times before they answer!. The Hotel Cima is dark inside when the daylight goes and you have to you cannot fined the light switches half the time . This property has not been maintained in some time and I mean years . The services are dated and dirty carpets , have not Been vacuumed. The shower has never been properly cleaned , the drain is full of hair and blocked . I had to clean the sink before we could use it . The bedding was stained ,and the shared toilet the wall covering was worn and pealing off the wall . The stay was not worth the money .

Verified reviewgrat location, amazing views, friendly owner.
Outdated place, feels like back in 50's.

Verified reviewThe location was great, near the train station and in the town centre.
The hotel is outdated and is in much need of refurbishment. However the cost of staying reflects this and is far cheaper than anywhere else we looked at in Zermatt.

Verified reviewThe notice doesn't tell you that no one will be there. It's very confusing. Signs say keep away. It looks like a ghost hotel. People around didn't know about the place either. And if you decide to go somewhere else, they won't give you your money back

Verified reviewGood location
Hair in the bed! Food under bed! Room not clean and sheets not changed- hair in the bed and the shower, used soaps, mouldy cake under the bed alongside lots of general dirt on the room, used tissues in drawer. Asked for clean sheets and staff tried to argue as we were only staying 2 nights and the room was “cheap” that it didn’t matter. Didn’t clean the room for us and we changed the sheets ourselves.

Verified reviewGreat view and close to the station and main street
The room was extremely unclean. There was dirt and other debris all over the floor including a used cotton ear bud. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and there was dirt of the bedsheets. When I contacted the owners there was no response and we were forced to seek alternative accommodation. I still have not heard anything from the owners or received a refund.

Verified reviewThis is a quaint and lovely hotel. It is so refreshing to be able to sit quietly in a garden in peace and have a wonderful Matterhorn view. This is a real gem and reflects the true nature of Zermatt. This is the heart of Zermatt and needs to be preserved and celebrated
I wish I could have stayed longer. No breakfast provided but enough local opportunities to either collect or be in a local cafe

Verified reviewThe lady hosting the place is really lovely and welcoming. We could check in early, she quickly instructed us about the rules and showed us around. Th location is a 10/10 and the view from the balcony is amazing. For these benefits, the place is very affordable!
It was dirty. And I mean really dirty... there were old eyedrops from previous people on the floor, the carpet was felted with hair and the shower door was unhooked, which is kind of weird if you are staying with someone you are not incredibly close with... The bed was clean tho :) It feels like the elderly lady cannot keep up with the maintenance, which is kind of sad. It would help if she got someone to help her, cause it seemed that she cleaned and prepared everything by herself.

Verified reviewLocation and price are the factors that I choose to stay here. Its just a 5 mins walk from the station and the price is the cheapest you can get here in Zermatt. Its an old school hotel but for a short and budget stay, it is still worth it. View from balcony is really stunning (both day & night). Not so many customers which is great. It really is a pleasure to experience Zermatt by staying in this hotel. I hope this hotel can survive for long. I wish the owner all the best and have a great life ahead.
Its a bit old. But you cannot complain with the cheap price.

Verified reviewThe location is great, it's only a few minutes walk from the train station. Also our room has a balcony with a great view of the mountains! The reception team could be reached by telephone only when we arrived but check in was very simple and easy. I'd come back & stay again anytime.
