We had a pleasant stay at the Historisches Hotel Bären, located at a good spot to explore the region and its main activities. The interesting interior made it an experience, while the included breakfast was fine to start the day properly.

There was no shampoo in the bathroom, I have never seen a hotel without toiletries, you had to pay extra to change towels and sheets. The bed mattress was very uncomfortable. We got back pain.

Black mould in the grooves between the tiles in the bathroom, the bathroom also smelled old and musty. The balcony seemed to be falling apart (bent tables and curved/broken balcony floors). The hotel was very noisy as there were wooden floors in the rooms and they charge a ridiculous amount of money (15 CHF) for changing the towels, irrespective the duration of your stay - at no point they will replace your towels for free.

The breakfast was not giving. Only bread with pork and cheese. In a hotel you would expect at least some baked egg or chicken on your bread.

The restaurant being closed - was tricking planning dinner in the evenings since there is no other restaurant close by and the bus has limited hours in the evening. (Not an issue if you have your own transportation, but we did not.) The charge for fresh towels/sheets - because we stayed for 5 nights, new towels would have been nice after a few days. Our shower head’s hardware was faulty and it would not stay up/would drop down to waist level. Also, no shampoo/body wash provided.

Our room was one with mountain view’s from our balcony with a jacuzzi, which we very much enjoyed during our 5 night stay. The included breakfast was very good, as well as the provided kettle in our room for making coffee and meals. Location! So quiet and serene. Very close to hiking trails and the bus stop as well as a little post office/convenience store.

Higher or better dividers between the balconies would be nice. Our neighbors were very loud and smoked many cigarettes which made the hot tub experience less enjoyable.

Had to pay 3 Euros per day for parking that wasn’t described - not a lot though annoying. No real soul to the place as staff were pretty unsmiling and uncommunicative(though efficient). Nowhere really close to eat though found nice friendly pasta/pizzeria about 10 mins away on corner at junction on way to Fruitigen.

Great view of the mountains from the balcony. Room was reasonable size, clean and functional. Breakfast was ok. Lots of hikes in close proximity. Enjoyed our stay in old historical building with great views that could be much better with some friendly customer service. Small fridge at entrance that we used admins in room.

It you enjoy chatting to staff, this is not a property for you - staff are very discreet and you won't see them often. Likewise, if you enjoy a fancy and mdoern environment, this is not a suitable option for you.

Some one was in our room, but noting missing, i dont know who have the secend key exept the hotel… Bathrom are so small and not expecting like the room with beds (that is beter condition then WC).

Its okay, they told us they are not cleaning the rooms or changeing the towers… And some one was in our room but noting is missing… The workers im there are so nice and culture, and wery kind to us. Big respect for them.

The location was super far. There’s a bus to in town but it stops running at 6pm so we got a car.

Never saw a member of staff at all during the stay. Keys collected on trust. Bar/restaurant onsite not open and nowhere nearby to eat. Bit disappointing.

Beautiful location and lovely room. Had hot tub on balcony so never going to complain about that. Parking on site and good breakfast.

The rooms were spacious, the mattress was comfortable, the arrangement comfortable. it was nice there was a kettle for tea. the views to the mountains were great.

Disappointed we had to pay an additional 3chf per day parking, however this was known before arrival. Should be included within room rate. The bathroom is dark and really needs a light over shower. It would be of benefit to have a tv in the room for a junior suit. It was a pity there was no restaurant considering limited local options.

We had a little bit of trouble with the bathroom: a bit too "old" for my taste and the lighting was quite poor. Also since the hotel is an older one, you could hear the other tourists moving around...

Exceptional view and especially having a jacuzzi to sit in during evenings after long walks. Breakfast had many options and coffee was tasteful. The room architecture was quite interesting.

Warm at night in the room with the curtains closed and the windows closed but comfortable enough.

A lovely location with beautiful views. Easy to get to with satnav. Breakfast was very good and the lift was helpful when on the top floor.
