Beautiful view from Room 1 of the waterfall and valley, comfortable and decent room. Bathroom was falling apart but expected at such decently priced spot in Switzerland.

Only one toilet and shower (in the same room) for everyone on the floor (although as we get up before others we managed fine). Bedroom door handle squeaked loudly so it was impossible to get in and out of room without making a lot of noise.

Good location to train station and shops. There’s a little shared balcony to sit on. Bed was comfortable and room was big. The kitchen is very small but had a microwave, stove top and small fridge, everything we needed to make dinner. There’s one cute four seat table in common area for meals and we were usually the only ones using it.

There was only one toilet and bathroom for the entire floor, which wasn’t enough, and it wasn’t very clean. The blanket wasn’t very clean either. Because of the use of parquet on the ceiling and floor, there was a lot of noise between the floors, and it was hard to get proper rest.

It can be cleaned a lot more. The toilet seat screws need to be tightened. The shower head is not usable. The bathtub looks so dirty and so is the room floor. No elevator and the the top stairs outside needs to be fixed almost tripped us in the dark.

Kitchen and bathroom shared with 3 other rooms' guests. If they are clean, quiet and considerate (as mine were), you'll have no problems. However, you could be unlucky and encounter rude/loud neighbors so please be flexible and willing to risk this in exchange for the low cost and convenience you get.

Simple hostel type accommodations in an extremely convenient location very close to the Lauterbrunnen train station. Great for those using public transport as you can walk/train/bus wherever you like. Don't expect luxury for this price in Switzerland, but if you're looking for a simple place to stay while you explore the area, Base Cafe hostel is a good choice.

The floors are very squeaky and walls are quite thin, so your experience will very much depend on the other guests staying at the same time as you. Thankfully the other guests were not too noisy late into the night, but I could see that being a problem for other stays. As other reviews mention, the shower doesn't drain properly, but other than that we didn't find a huge problem with cleanliness. If anything the kitchen was dirtier than the bathroom. Keep your expectations reasonably low for your stay.

The location of Base Cafe is hard to beat. That's the best thing it has going for it. Check in was very easy which might be a plus for some, but it felt almost too easy... It seems like the staff is very hands-off. We walked into the cafe, they told us which room number we had, and that was it. No further information given, but everything was pretty self-explanatory thankfully.

Shower bracket was broken so it was necessary to hold the shower head. Kitchen very tatty. Crockery could have from a charity shop. Very squeaky beds. Electrics looked very dubious.

The check in is too late, and the people that give you the instructions and the keys to the room are in the cafe downstairs, which closes at 17:00, so there’s not much time to get the keys.

We were able to leave the luggage hours before doing the check in.
