How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe owner and staff are friendly & the view amazing
No facilities far from the city 20 minutes by bus, no supermarket , need to renovate the furniture which is very old ; limited breakfast & no kettle or fridge
Good afternoon, dear guest Thank you for your review. It was lovely to have you stay with us. We really enjoyed our time with you. We are a historic 122-year-old hotel with lots of antique furniture and paintings dating back to 1606. We have a minibar with a kettle and small snacks. There is also a small village shop with many products just a 12-minute walk away. Interlaken can be reached in 14 minutes by free bus or 11 minutes by car. Best regards, the family hotel with heart Dani Your host

Verified reviewFurther to my review for the night of 30 July, the owner replied, "However, you cannot expect to change rooms at midnight.". No story please ! I requested to change the room the next morning on 31 July (I booked two nights, 30 July and 31 July,2025 ), first to the staff, then I sent an email to the owner. What's the story of "midnight"? I have emails record which show I sent it at 11.30 AM, 31 July 2025 local time (Switzerland). I sent two emails to the owner regarding this matter, one at 11.30 AM and then 13.19 (1.19 PM) ,31 July; however I didn't get any reply during the rest of the day. The owner simply told me at breakfast the next day on 1 Aug 2025 that my emails just arrived 1 hour ago, was this possible? The owner's claim, "However, you cannot expect to change rooms at midnight." is disappointing.
The owner insisted my price was paid for the "small single room", showing me that price of the "single room" was higher. Today, 18 Aug 2025, I checked their room price for the day of 30 Oct 2025, yes, the original price of "single room" is higher than "small single room", however, as a genius member of booking.com, I get 25% off for "single room", it ends up on my account the price of "single room" is lower than that of "small single room" as there's no promotion for the latter. I have kept a screenshot of this price list. Thus, the payment can not be used as an excuse. On my booking information, it says I paid for the "small room" which comes with description and photo of "balcony" for two nights. The reality was I was given and stayed in a loft room for 2 nights. Yes, the owner gave me a gift of the fluffy toy. I mentioned it in my previous review and thanks for their kindness. But, can the "gift" be used to shift the focus? Whose mistake is this? Booking.com hasn't acknowledged that it was their fault. As a consumer, if my payment fails I won't get a room or if I don't show up on that day which I booked I lose my money. But what happens when the service providers fail to perform their obligation? Is this fair ??? It's not about 3-star or 5-star hotel service, it's about honesty and business conduct.

Verified reviewIt locates in a lovely village with amazing lake view. The bus runs regularly from/to Interlaken west station which is convenient and it's free ride with public card provided by the hotel. The owner's dog Heidi is cute and the breakfast included is super. I believe other rooms are very nice based on other guests review.
My rate 7 is based on the room I was given and the experience. 1. I booked 'single room' with a terrace for two nights in May and was charged 20 days ago via booking.com. However, I was given 'small single room' (loft room without a terrace) for two nights instead; basically, it's a different type of room with different price. 2. I mentioned this to the staff and sent an email to the owner via booking.com regarding this. However, I didn't.get any.response during the.whole day. The next morning, the owner greeted me and said the Booking email just arrived 1 hour ago. Well, when I asked them.for transportation before arrival via.Booking message box, they replied promptly (thanks.for.this). 3. The owner insisted that it's Booking.com's mistake for the wrong type room.given. My payment was for "small single room", not for "single room". Excuse me, I paid for "single room" which was described in my booking information, with my name, room description "with a terrace" and room photos with a terrace. My "single room" booking information is well kept on Booking.com, and I have a screenshot in my phone. 4. There was weird noise in the "small single room" I was given and stayed. It's like ventilation sound but not from bathroom; in bathroom, no such noise heard, only in the room. At night time, the noise was disturbing my sleep and I had to wear earplugs, but it's a village room, away from cities. I mentioned niose to the staff the next morning and was told afterwards the problem already solved. Unfortunately, the next day and night, noise remained, earplugs.again. 5. When checking out, the owner insisted it's booking.com's fault for this mess. They didnt accept city tax I paid in cash and gave me a little Heidi fluffy toy to show kindness (thanks for this) 6.Could this have been.solved in.a professional manner, if possible? Business is business.
Dear Ms. Yihang, thank you for taking the time to review us. We are very sorry that your stay was not perfect. You were assigned the wrong room category by Booking. We have contacted Booking. However, we have fulfilled the service you paid for. For the price you paid, you received a single room without a balcony. Furthermore, we are a family hotel with a heart and always strive to make our guests happy. We even gave you gifts worth CHF 60. However, you cannot expect to change rooms at midnight. You pay for a 3-star hotel but demand 5-star service. Best regards, the Fassbind family

Verified reviewGreat hosts, beautiful location, very cozy wooden rooms. Breakfast is great with magnificent views. Dani is a super welcoming host, as is Heidi - the Bernese that comes to hang out at breakfast and give you high fives for treats.
Pricey but as is everything in Switzerland. Also no A/C in the room, which is also common for the area.

Verified reviewHotel Fassbind is someplace I would stay again even though Waldegg (the neighborhood) did not have any restaurants and Fassbind kitchen was open partially, though breakfast was exceptional each morning. My si gle room was small, but the balcony was terrific and I’d do it again. Linda and Dani were just great. Scenery is gorgeous and the location offers real views. Lovely!!
Everything was ok or great.

The location is beautiful and convenient to go to many places around Interlaken. The views from our balcony were tremendous. It's like waking up in a postcard.
Loved it all.
