How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBreakfast was ok , pretty basic but good. The location was great , away from the crowds and buzz. The bus pass allows free unlimited travel to town centre which was great. The view from the room was breathtaking! I was late for dinner the first night and was told the kitchen is now closed. But one nice lady offered to make me sandwich which was very kind of her . They did charge me a lot for the very basic cheese sandwich but i thought that was sweet of her.
I’ve seen a dog in the kitchen during off hours ( after breakfast and before lunch ) which the chef kept touching and patting . This is poor hygiene . I was absolutely taken aback by this sight . Dogs should be off limit to kitchen and dining area. Dinner was average . But what surprised me was them charging me for tap water ! I asked for tap water and the waitress kept asking for what size ( big or small ) I said it doesn’t matter . She replied - yes it does , you have to pay for it. This was a shock as we don’t pay for tap water in London ( or anywhere in the uk ) also was rude the way she said but that could be the language barrier. Another inconvenience was the room change in the midst of my stay . I booked 3 consecutive nights but had to change room after the first night as they couldn’t offer a room for 3 consecutive nights - this was odd and inconvenient.

Verified reviewAbsolutely beautiful location, and the views from both our balcony and dinner at the hotel were amazing. Dinner at the restaurant and the buffet breakfast were excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the room as clean and high quality. We also really liked that the location is a bit out of town to especially appreciate how beautiful the surroundings are.
Nothing!

Verified reviewCheck in instructions were easy to follow. Room was clean and comfortable. Beautiful view.
The restaurant was closed both days we were there. The staff could have been friendlier. Every time I asked a question I got the feeling I was annoying them.

Verified reviewThe property is in the most beautiful ideal location. With the main bus stops to and from the town and train station right outside the hotel, super easy to get to and you will enjoy the views so much. The rooms were larger than expected - we paid for a balcony room - the bathroom was clean and lovely, the beds were comfy and overall a lovely room. Balcony views will blow you away literally the most gorgeous view- I recommend the upgrade. Breakfast was simple but lovely and filling. There was croissant, breads, honey, jam and chocolate spread, cheeses, cold meats, some berry and greek yoghurt. And a choice of hot drink (tea coffee etc) A lovely breakfast for the price - everything is fresh and tasty. The lady- who I believe is the owners partner - checked us in and was super sweet and smiley all the time we saw her. All the staff at the hotel were so sweet and lovely and accommodating at all times.
Everything about the property was amazing. Only issue was the downstairs closed early - as we needed boiling water one night at around 9.30pm but the downstairs was closed so no way to get it.

Verified reviewThe bedroom was large and comfortable, with a nice bathroom too. Bed was very comfortable. And I had the view both to the garden and the mountains. Breakfast was very good and copious and staff very responsive to my questions before I arrived. I was able to go hike Grosse Scheidegg directly from the hotel.
It is a bit out of the way, so if you are looking fir a quiet spot it's great. The bus runs every 30 min and takes about 10 min to get to downtown. Just check the schedule in advance so you don’t wait. The prices were still high in my opinion, but this is Swisszerland!

Verified reviewThe view
The hotel closed on 2 of the 3 nights we were there and didn’t tell us. No food or drinks beyond a very simple breakfast. Be prepared to hike back into town (40mins very steep hill back up). There was a bus but it stopped running about 7pm! Hotel closed every Mon/Tues! Bizarre!!

Verified reviewThe room had a great view. It was charming and cute. The breakfast served was good. They give you a card which lets you travel on bus 121 for free. Which runs every 30 mins and takes you to the centre of town. Free parking is great to have as parking like every other thing in Switzerland can be quite expensive
A bit far from the centre.
