How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Quite a steep walk up to the property. We took it as clocking up our daily walk albeit strenuous. There’s a free bus service to and from the hotel into the town centre.

Verified reviewExcellent hotel in a very good location, offering stunning views of the Alps and plenty of opportunities to take beautiful photos in the yard. The rooms are spacious, with a balcony and desk. Breakfast is exceptional, with many options to choose from. The staff, including the cleaning crew, are very friendly and helpful. we walk up from the First office and down to Grindelwald Station, but I recommend taking bus 122, which takes only about 10 minutes. We parked our car at the hotel, just be sure to drive up from the correct road. (Do not follow the route suggested by googlemap, but take the road through the village and drive up after the church resp. the Hotel Fiescherblick.) A unique highlight is that paragliding lands directly on the lawn next to the hotel, which is very convenient.

Verified reviewExcellent hotel, spacious nicely decorated room with fantasic view to the Apls. The bed were super comfortable, had a L shaped large balcony with a panoramic mindblowing view of the swiss alps. The breakfast was excellent. The staff at the reception was coordial, offered me a mobile charge adapter. The staff at the restaurant was polite and attentive.

Verified reviewThe staff were so helpful and friendly, they checked us in early. They were so knowledgeable about activities and even called to find out further information for us. The food and service exceptional. One of the best buffet breakfasts. The children loved it. Fantastic views. We loved staying just 5 mins out of the main busy part of town. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Breakfast was ok but not so good. No air conditioner. Very narrow road to the hotel from the town center.

We are less happy to hear that you didn't enjoy our variety rich and fresh breakfast, which is defenitly above standard for 3-star hotels in Switzerland. We only have a few weeks of hot temperature in Grindelwald, so A/C's make little sense, yet we provide ventilators for our guests on request. And the road is narrow if you take the wrong one. Thats why we recommend to not follow the GPS but instead our personal instructions in the welcome e-mail. We hope to see you soon again.

Verified reviewThe hospitality was amazing. Peter & the staff in the hotel were so pleasant & helpful in every way. The sauna was clean & top notch. Most of all, our kids enjoyed the goats - every morning and every evening. The scenery is beautiful (mountains, greenery.) The proximity to the cable cars, the town (you can walk or take a bus that stops less than 1 min from hotel) were super convenient. Many areas to hike, walk. & lastly the food - amazing, flavorful and worth every penny. The chef is the best. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Verified reviewThe location was excellent; Grindelwald itself is quite busy and sees a lot of foot traffic - either heading to one of the cable car stations or the well used train station - Hotel Bodmi is far enough away to feel quieter and more isolated, but is close enough to have easy access to all the cool things Grindelwald has to offer. Breakfast was delicious - not my usual thing but the family and I LOVED the fluffy pancakes! Number one for this hotel is the staff though - Peter and Saskia were particularly welcoming and helpful during our stay.
It wasn't a big deal as I wasn't there for the WiFi, but after a day of hiking, it would have been nice to have WiFi strong enough to stream a movie on my iPad but it wasn't. Also, the pillows on the bed were a little bit flimsy, but I was provided with another couple so problem solved quickly!
