How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNo things
When I booked on Booking.com, one of the facilities was a private pool for me and when I arrived, there was no private pool for me, which made me pay extra money and also the sound of the train is very annoying and you can't sleep comfortably.

There was no person to assist to how to get into the property No one to call if anything is needed It’s like Airbnb without staff If you’re with Family, think about it If anything is not there, you can’t ask anyone over there Only you should figure it out Train passing by me a little noise There are 5 to 6 steps You should carry your luggage by yourself through the stairs to get to the room There is no bolt or any lock to lock door from inside without lock If anyone has a lock, they can open it from outside even if you lock it from inside

Verified reviewSmall, basic but complete apartment, cosy decoration and feeling home feeling. Nice time and nice view over the lake.
The train passing by every 10 minutes and late check in (16:00) and early check-out (10:00). This is 6 hours of a day which is too much in our opinion.

Verified reviewIf you are looking for a stay in a quiet swiss village by the lake side, then this stay is for you!
Connectivity is limited, there is a bus running every hour from interlaken and spiez. We were not given hotel card, so keep in mind the additional cost of bus tickets in case you don’t have a swiss pass.

Some serious safety concerns. We were unable to locate any smoke alarm in the room. Once in the room, the only exit door could only be locked and unlocked by key. In case of a fire, we would not be able to run out of the room. Along with the missing alarm, this delay could put our lives at risk. I don’t know fire laws in Switzerland, but I do know these to be serious violations in Canada. We would not stay again based on these concerns. There was also a kitchen which only had a small trash can with no extra garbage bags provided.

Verified reviewThe lake view from the balcony is nice. The bathroom was in good condition. There is a full kitchen. The decor is unique. There is a pool (not open yet). The owner gave clear directions for entry but it's complicated!!
The entrance to the building is in awful condition. Carpet filthy and torn up. The hallway is dark with no automatic lights. You have to hunt for the light switch before you can continue in the hall. There was a mix up with the parking card so we didn't have one and worried some about our car safety. The unit itself is small as we expected but needs maintenance in many areas. Holes in the bathroom walls need patching, paint on the kitchen units needs touchups, hanging light over the bed should be near the table so you don't hit your head on it and so there is light where you need it at the table. The entrance doors are never locked so anyone could enter the building. There is no town near by. It's a group of homes. There is a restaurant with vegetarian food and that's it anywhere near by. No shops at all. The train track between the unit and the lake, just metres away, is not particularly disturbing, surprisingly. They are electric so relatively quiet and not smelly like diesel.

Verified reviewThe view!
Public transport is available from the bus station outside the apartment. However, it's once every hour. Proper planning is required. If you miss the bus then you'll have to wait a full hour for the next one to get to the main station. The beds and pillow were also not very comfortable.

Verified reviewBoho Oase has a lovely view, and is perfectly placed for exploring Interlaken and the valleys to the north. The apartment is comfortable and the kitchenette is well-supplied.
The shared entrance corridor is dark and needs a new carpet.

Verified reviewThe journey to the apartment took quite awhile, a long walk from the bus stop especially with our luggages. After you enter from what seems like a side door, there is a staircase which is not lit at all, literally dark, hence, we have a problem moving our luggage up to the corridor. However, the view from the place made up for everything else. Nice cosy little space with a view of the lake and alps and the fairy lights just adds on to the coziness. The mobile heater was a plus for us as it was freezing the last couple of days. Well equipped kitchen with generally everything you would need. Will recommend to my friends.
