How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewChalet d is a pleasant stay for a big group. Would recommend But there is room for improvement. Some appliances /plates /cups are cracked and chipped. Would have appreciated they provided more plastics for garbage and kitchen towel. But overall pleasant stay Loved it

Verified reviewLocation, next to busstop and 7 minute walk to terminal / supermarket. Communication with landlord ok.
House is under construction. No third bathroom available. No locks on toilet/bathroom. Playroom lacks proper tools. Utilities in kitchen not all working on induction. No bowls for breakfast. Shod be improved to get the value for money. Not up to griwarent standards.

Stayed 6 nights with 8 people. They only gave 2 trash bag, 1 kitchen paper towel & insufficient toilet paper. For cooking, it’s definitely not enough. After feedback, they asked us to go and buy ourselves at the supermarket 💀What is this service? Lousy water pressure and WiFi was slow as well

Verified reviewFirstly, i really wanted to give this property 10 out of 10. This property has sooooooo much potential to be the perfect stay in Grindelwald. The location is perfect, the size is perfect, the facilities are perfect, the kitchen is fully stocked, everything about the property is perfect but there are a few things that did affect my ratings and the reason are listed below.
I had read previously reviewed the reviews that others had left in relation to this property and in my mind they were relatively minor and should have been resolved. So i contacted the owner before hand and requested these things be put right before we arrive which were, all blocked drains be unblocked, pool table be fixed, leaking shower cubicles sealed. Unfortunately we couldnt use the pool table as it was damaged, not level and no cues, 2 showers drains were blocked - to preempt this I took a bottle of bleach with me but it did nothing so on the first night we had to go to the super market and get a strong drain unblocker and leave it over night. some of the bathroom doors do not have locks. There are no extractor fans in the bathrooms so steam does built up very quickly, like i said these were minor issues we should not have had to deal with. I would stay here again but now i know what to expect i will be more prepared.

upon arrival it was clear that the accommodation was not properly cleaned and waste of previous guests was still underneath the dustbin. closets were messy with stuff dumped in and doors closed to hide the mess. a pillow of one of the beds was missing, an old Christmas tree was dumped in the garden, vacuum cleaner was incomplete and in the kitchen the cutlery and glasses were not sufficient for the amount of guests te be accommodated in the house. in one of the bathrooms the water did not drain properly and in another bathroom the shower door was broken. when being in contact with the owner, answers were short and often no reaction followed at all. housekeeping came over but because we were not made aware and we were skiing, we did not see the person. for the high price that is requested for this accommodation we have had much more comfort in other accommodations in the past years in grindelwald, we come there for decades. this accommodation would not be a place we would advice people to go to unless the service level and quality of housekeeping would improve drastically instead of raising the price as is being already done for next year….
