Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandThe room was really hot. The radiator was on (in July!) and made noises non-stop all night.
Breakfast was fairly good and the restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful.

United KingdomThe room was clean and the bed was comfortable. My room overlooked General-Dufour-Str which was a little noisy from quite early. The breakfast was good and the staff frinedly over breakfast. I was a little disconcerted to find no-one at reception when I arrived, the receptionist was in the restaurant, apparently next door at first sight, although it is part of the hotel and it is wehre breakfast is served, but this is not apparent at first sight.

AustriaAlthough I was messaged it was possible I didn't get the requested double bed but two single beds. The bathroom wasn't really clean and some eggs at breakfast were pretty much raw. I also missed yoghurt for musli.

SwitzerlandThe pillow is really bad. Besides, the bell of a nearby church (I guess it is a church) even rings at midnight.
The staff serving the breakfast are nice.

SpainNo wifi. I was not offered any alternative when i asked to one of he staff. But the worst and the reason i wont come back is one of the staff member. One lady who was furious everyday i had to ask a question. She was extremely unpolite. The breakfast was terrible. I was 3 nights but i had jsut half of the breakfast in my first day and i did not want to finish it or to come back next day. It was just disgusting. i was offered a coffee and some pieces of cheese that were frozen, hard and dry. Just not edible.
Hotel is as expected. Quality-price is OK. All was clean as expected. Just the place seems to be old but it as described.

PortugalVery central hotel in a building close to the old city as well as the commercial streets. Close by you can find several restaurants and main sights and funicular are available. It is around 10 minutes walk to the train station and 15 minutes to the lake shore. The room was good in a higher floor with many windows but it was quiet at night. Nice staff. Good wifi. Breakfast correct.

SwitzerlandThe bathroom needs renovation as fast as possible. There are mould spots all over the shower cabin. The ventilation is not functioning, so mold will spread further. One can see it in the cabin and on the ceiling.
Breakfast, staff and proximity to railway station.

United KingdomI can’t think of any aspects which could have been improved.
The room was very pleasant, clean, comfortable and had all the necessary facilities including its own bathroom with shower. The location of the Hotel Dufour was very good, in the town centre and near the old town. It was a pleasant 15 minute walk to Biel/Bienne railway station and there was a frequent trolleybus service to and from the station. The breakfast was excellent and very tasty with a good variety of drinks and food which were plentiful. The hotel also had its own excellent Indian restaurant with an impressive variety of food which was very reasonably priced.

SwitzerlandThe only tiny inconvenience was the shower, the door wouldn't close in any angle I tried so after showering I had a spot to dry up.
It is in a good location, there's tens of restaurants and they have their own too, which I sadly didn't had the chance to try except for the breakfast. There's also a fitness club with swimming pool and sauna, bars, a bunch of stores selling all sorts of things and the public beach on the lake of Biel is like 15 minutes even by walking. The train station is close as well, my meeting was in another city but it wasn't a pain to get to there. The room was tidy, the staff was nice, checking in and out was fast, they have comedy central in German... I'm also happy for the breakfast, they had a good variety of a bunch of things I love. If I'd happen to stay in the region in the near future, I'd choose them again without hesitation.

CanadaWell, from the get-go, I had a feeling it was a very basic and dated hotel. The first room I was given had the shower head hanging from the shower wall. It wasn't possible to affix it to the shower hardware (head didn't fit the same size as the hardware). When I was moved, the shower was 'better' but there were holes in the wall of the shower, no ventilation at all anywhere in the room (a standing fan, that's it), no lightbulbs in my lamp, no kettle, very moldy/stale smell in all of the cupboards. The pillows were so flat that I could barely use them. Had to bunch up the second duvet to use as a pillow (also quite flat). TV didn't go on. So much noise from outside was heard in the room as the windows didn't offer any soundproofing. Most of the staff seemed puzzled/apathetic in all of my dealings with them. They weren't terrible, but it's clear that there isn't a whole lot of love and care being poured into this place. Felt some scratches/bites in the mornings and considered that there might be bed bugs in this place, too :( Breakfast was pretty gross, and I'm not picky at all, but I wouldn't touch the cheese or meat section. You're better off going to Lago Lodge in Biel, where it's CLEAN and very affordable and pleasant. Overall, if you're into the haunted-feeling-60's-retro-dirty-office-building-style hotel, you'll enjoy this place. Otherwise, skip it.
Good location, room was spacious.

GermanyMy room itself even though a no smoking sign was on the door smelled very bad as it has been a smoking room before. The walls were badly insulated and only with the windows open the heat was bareable. No AC. The bed was damaged, the sheets had two wholes and only one socket was usable. So i had to decide to recharge my phone or watch TV. I only had the bed lights as light sources in the room. When someone opened the window close to my room it sounded as it would be mine. The toilet was loose and most of the bath equipment had seen much better days. I could close my door from the inside but could not lock it, the handle from the extra lock was missing. The place needs a lot of work done.
The hotel is a 15min walk from the train station, easy to find and close to a shopping alley, so you will find everything you need. The staff was really nice and welcoming. The hotel has seen better days, and it is not vintage yet. The room was big and i had enough space for my stuff. The breakfast is very simple but fine and the coffee is good. They are really trying and the restaurant seems to be good.
