How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Hotel needs refurbishment, the back entrance (which you have to use when the restaurant is closed - hotel is above a Chinese restaurant) is filthy and there are bins and rubbish nearby. Hotel is a good 45 minutes walk away from the town centre but you can get a bus which stops right by the hotel.
Friendly staff who gave us a free pass to use the lake swimming facilities at the back of the hotel (which were very good) and also gave us useful advice about getting into the town centre.

The bathrooms need update and there is no airconditioning just a fan that wobbles.
The hosts were amazing, there is a full restaurant at the bottom and a lake behind the property.

Location is in the middle of large car dealerships. Hotel itself is surrounded by a large parking lot. Nothing scenic. Room was clean but in need of renovation. No AC, floor fan had broken switches. No refrigerator.

Nothing.slippery shower base needed care.
Comfortable,clean spacious room,restaurant on site handy,helpful staff when purchasing bus ticket,short walk to lovely lake and cafe a surprise.parking easy.nice view of mountains from room.

If you are a tourist and you want to walk to the Old Town and to the lake, it is quite far. But you can take a trolleybus if you do not want to go to the centre by car.
The staff is very nice and willing to help. The room was quite large. There is a parking place in front of the building, which is big enough for all guests who can come, I believe.

Though balcony was spacious but shared with 1 adjacent room that was definitely a privacy compromise in the balcony. Balcony was not cleaned, was dusty and even chairs in the balcony. (But overall room was neat and clean ). I hope, hotel will improve on this soon.
Room was quite spacious for family of 4 with double bed and bunk bed for children. Nice view (mount Titlis) from the balcony of the room. All the basic amenities were excellent. Staff was very cooperative. Breakfast definitely a plus point of this hotel. Staff serving and managing breakfast was very humble and nice to the guests including children guests. Free parking is another plus point of this hotel

It was a bit out of town. There was a convenient and frequent bus connection to get me there.
The price. Everything in Luzern is heavily overpriced. This hotel had a decent price.

Outdated hotel and needs an upgrade soon
The hotel is very outdated and it feels like a chinese restaurant. People are very friendly but the hotel itself and accomodation is very outdated and no airco availbale.

The Falken am Rotsee is well located, with public transport only meters from the front door. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was clean and equipped with the necessary facilities. Both, dinner and breakfast met our expectations.

We were on the second floor and steps were hard with many bags. The location is not central and hard to do any thing unless you get transport. They cater for many Chinese tour groups so we could not eat when we wanted to as guests I would expect some area set aside for I house guests. Breakfast was fine. Not really to my liking for.a.hotel in Luzern. Overall my rating reflects the total stay.
The dinner was very nice, and assistance with taxis was good.

There wasn't any aircon but we were given a fan.
The host was really lovely, we got free tickets to the lake which was a 2 minute walk behind the hotel and a welcome relief from the hot day, we could also sit at the top of the shaded cafe with the dog which was really lovely. 5 mins from Lucerne in the car. Free parking outside the hotel. We had Chinese food from the hotel and sat outside with the dog which was great. The food was gorgeous. The room was lovely and big.
