How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location of this hotel is par excellence. 10 minutes walk from the train station and 3 minutes walk to Chapel Bridge. Cafes and shops are on your doorstep, the gorgeous lake is across the road. However as a single traveler, I was not comfortable. Probably better suited to couples or families.
The hotel is dated and needs some renovations, the light in the bathroom made a deafening sound for a couple of minutes each time it was switched on. The hotel is dark and gloomy and I did not see another person other than the cleaning staff. There is no reception. You are given a door code to enter the hotel. All communication with the reception is via email which I suspect maybe in another country as they take a couple of hours to respond or not at all. I asked for a blanket as it got cold at night and got no response from the hotel. Fortunately I bumped into the cleaner, who very kindly went and got me a blanket.

Verified reviewProbably the best option to stay at the very center of the city. Checking in without a reception works very well. And it's price is very bearable compared to other alternatives.
Somehow this contactless check-in idea creates a strange logic. You are not allowed to leave your luggage, even though they are small and there are plenty of space available in debasement floor. Moreover, though it is written as 11.00 for check out time, they send a message to warn you to leave before 10.00. But the huge disappointment was about plugs and internet. I stayed at the third floor, no 301 and if this will be your room, better to cancel it. Only one plug literally works out of 4 and that one is behind some furnitures and cable from fridge is connected. There is a very tiny location in between the door of the room and the bathroom that you can receive a bit of wifi. If you are planning to stay for one night or if you use mobile company that receives signal (mine wasn't) that might not be a problem for you. But I had to finish a work and literally I went down each time I need internet. Luckily the entrance has a nice table and also to can feel like you are working at the reception :)) Another issue is the smell of mold. I was there in summer and owning windows solved everything. But in winter that might be a bit sad.

The room was very small, very basic and Wi-fi virtually none existent. No staff on reception at any time and not issued with Swiss visitor card for travel around. Sent message to a number given for any problems, sent message re Wi-fi and message back was very negative.

Verified reviewExcellent Location! Probably the best you can imagine. Such a small building even has an elevator, which is of course important if you have large and heavy bags.
Very small room. Even too small, in which there are not even glasses for water.

For four people it is very small. Just enough space to walk around the four person bunk bed.

Self check in and no reception was fine with the exception of not having access to the Luzern travel pass this would have been a useful addition

Verified reviewThis hotel is by far the worst hotel we’ve experienced. Also not great remarks told to us by local people from the area! Would not recommend to anyone 😢 We had to try find last minute accommodation for our last two nights stay that cost us an extra AUD $2300 out of pocket which is unacceptable 😡
Nothing

Verified reviewThe location is absolutely perfect! Right outside the door are shops and bakeries and only a few minutes walk to the main station and all the sites in Luzern.
The only thing the hotel needs is proper block out curtains. As its not far from the main streets there is a lot of light around and it can make it difficult to fall asleep.

Verified reviewAwesome location right in the middle of the shopping street. Convenient to get to the attractions around Lucerne.
The room was small, the toilet really compact and not really clean. The overall facilities are old and dated. Curtains need changing, fittings on doors and windows loose, and the bed was semi-collapsed at certain parts. Be prepared to hit your head on low pillars and arches. Worse of all, the internet and wifi is not functional and furthermore the tv is using digital signal or the internet which means that it doesn't work too. Distorted visual and audio which sometimes freeze altogether for minutes at end.
