A Memorable Stay in Traditional Swiss Comfort. The location was ideal — just a three-minute walk from the company I was visiting, making it incredibly convenient for business travel. Unlike modern steel-and-glass hotels, this property embraced the charm of a traditional Swiss inn. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable — exactly what I had hoped for. Dinner in the downstairs restaurant was outstanding, complemented by attentive and friendly service. Breakfast at the café just across the road was a thoughtful and enjoyable start to the day — it encouraged an early start and some local exploration. One unexpected element was the check-in process. Arriving late, I missed the receptionist and collected my key through a system that was unfamiliar but efficient. It added a unique touch to the stay — not a negative, just a difference that made it more memorable. Highly recommend for anyone doing business in the Fehraltorf area looking for quality, comfort, and character.

I would have liked 2 pillows vs. only 1, the room was warm and when I left the window open the bells were very loud. I was reluctant to wear ear plugs in a strange place.

it was convenient, they let me check in early, the water pressure was great and the water temperature was controlled well. The place was very clean.

It didn’t bother us so much, but as an FYI, the bells from the church next door could be pretty loud and chimed every 15 minutes.

Great location, just a short 5 minute walk to the train station where you can take a 30 minute train ride into downtown Zurich. The parking was free and checking in and out was smooth and easy to navigate. Our room was very clean and nice and we really enjoyed the property overall.

They did not make the bed and clean the bathroom between my 2 nights. Had to go down 3 times because they forgot to give me the light card on arrival (at 11 pm it’s annoying). 270 (yes I counted) bell rings at 6am on a Saturday from the church just next door.. just why ?

Many internet sites are blocked so I had to use my cellular network most of the time. The facilities for ironing could be better, ideally with an ironing board in the room TV could be much bigger. I would have preferred to have the breakfast added to my booking as an option through booking.com.

I am this review at 5:30 in the morning, so I at least get to use my time with something useful instead of for example sleeping. And you too will probably not get much sleep if you stay at Gasthof Zum Hecht. You can partially thank the next door church for that, because they decided it is extremely important to enthusiastically ring out the time during - get this - the whole night. And here we go again ! I just got informed that it is now 05:45 - three gongs. Being on the mainstreet, morning traffic is also surprisingly heavy for a such a small town, and the hum and noise is joined by the passing of head lights on the walls here, because there are no curtains in front of the windows. And I have to say that this is nouveau experience in a hotel where you get charged €170 per night without breakfast. A good pillow is important for a good sleep. But the single pillow (I am in a “suite”) on the double bed is the big and synthetic fluffy kind which means I had to recruit a couple of cushions from the chairs. Insanely uncomfortable. At least you have several mosquitos keeping you company, which will see your twisting and turning in bed as an infallible sign of guaranteed freshness. I will fondly remember them as I scratch their business reminders during the day. Finally, the bathroom is unhelpfully designed against the 42 degree leaning roof, which makes using the toilet a challenge to say the least. Be prepared to adopt a stance reminding of defensive bullfighter to do # 1. I have a hard time seeing any male over 70 accomplishing this without risking some sort of a back problem. Better to sit down. So, now it is 0600 and the (loud !!) church bells ring first 3 times (a double ring to announce something really important is coming up) then 6 times to give the hour. Then after 5 seconds, the bells are tolling full speed for full six minutes to make sure nobody are, God forbid, asleep on this Thursday morning. Unlucky for me, I have to stay here one more night.

It’s been said before, the building is just next to the main road andit is rather noisy. But, the hotel has earplugs as giveaways in the room!

Very understanding staff. Had problems with my payment made contact with me over the issue and allowed me time to resolve the issue with my bank. Food in hotel restaurant was also excellent.

Thank you for such a great experience! We had to make a call to the front desk multiple times after mistakes on our end (locked keys in rooms, showing up after hours, etc,). The woman at the front desk was very accommodating and super friendly! I will definitely stay here again in the future. Also - thank you for the upgrade!!
