Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAlthough visitors get free bus travel within Grindelwald the buses are almost always full (at least in August). It’s a bit of a slog walking to the hotel if the weather is very hot, as it was when we visited. But on the plus side the hotel is away from the chaos of the village centre. It is a shame that the bar and restaurant are closed and the old Swiss chalet vibe is no more, but I guess it is an understandable economic reality.
Absolutely beautiful outlook over the glacier or First. Our family room was large with great facilities and a balcony. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good. Helpful and friendly staff who let us check in early when we were tired from the journey. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back. Thank you!

United StatesWe were not informed how high up on the mountain this hotel is located from the middle of town. Would have liked some information about the easiest way too arrive at the hotel from the train station.
The view was magical, we had a mountain view room with a balcony. We had to leave the windows and balcony door open at night to sleep due to no air conditioning, happy we travel with fans. Breakfast was good, many options. Room was clean and had a refrigerator, which we loved.

SwitzerlandWe can’t think of anything. It was a perfect stay!
We loved everything about this hotel, it exceeded our expectations. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and went the extra mile. Their kindness was the thing that stood out the most. It’s scary to be in a new country with new languages and culture but they made us feel heard and helped us with every question we had with no hesitation and only kindness. The hotel was very clean, the area felt very safe and the breakfast (included in the stay) was very very good! It wasn’t a far walk from downtown Grindelwald, we would take evening walks to get dinner and icecream and enjoyed the walk back with sunset. The view from the hotel was also absolutely breathtaking. We have no complaints and will be coming back here! Thanks for all the help and kindness!

SwitzerlandIn the past, hot chocolate was also offered for free and kids truly appreciated it - it would be great if this is back soon! Moreover, the restaurant is not working for dinner anymore so one has to walk to town.
I have been in the Gletscherblick several times, alone or with my kids. What I love about it is the exceptional location, very close to Grindelwald town and very quiet at the same time. The breakfast is fantastic and there is coffee and tea for free all day long. The hanging chairs on the terrace with the Eiger and Wetterhorn view are incredibly peaceful. Rooms are "old" but well kept and exceptionally clean.

BelgiumThe hotel is a bit higher up the hill. If you want to dine in the main streets, you have to climb up a bit afterwards. It was fine for us, but maybe not as easy for everyone. There aren't many restaurant options around the hotel. Their own restaurant isn't open during the summer season.
The room was large and the view from the balcony was stunning. The breakfast room was spacious, plenty of breakfast options too. There is an elevator. The twin beds were actual twin beds, which is nice if you don't travel with your partner. The bathroom was small, but everything was there. The extra furniture in the room was great when the weather wasn't. The hotel was a bit higher up the hill, but the roads were good. There is private parking available. You can walk to the main street, the station and the gondolas to First.

United StatesWe had a car and foolishly got around in it and struggled mightily with parking when there was a free bus with a stop just a short downhill walk from our apartment.
Loved having a balcony to ourselves looking over the fields with the mountain in the background. Also we needed to do some wash and because the self serve dryer would take 1 1/2 hours to dry, the staff person allowed me to use the dryers they use to quick dry our clothes.
