Absolutely beautiful location in the Swiss alps! Just beyond the hotel there are so many unimaginable hiking opportunities! The hotel is comprised of three primary buildings and all are of the traditional Swiss design. Breakfast (included) is in the main restaurant and is very good but it would be nice to see them change it up a bit each morning. It was the same fare every day. Dinner is good but rather pricey.

One serious complaint: I booked four nights and was presented the total price. Later, after I booked, I was informed that there was a mistype and that I had not been offered the proper total amount. My opinion is that, once presented with a price, the customer shouldn't have to pay more. The error should have been absorbed by the venue or Booking.com (dependent on who made the error). But, as this was a special occasion, I negotiated. The issue was resolved (not to my liking) by my paying the amount of their error. But I was not required to pay the pet fee for my dog. Ultimately, I still absorbed most of their error. This was my second stay at Griesalp. On the first occasion, I suggested that they provide better chairs or at least a seat cushion for the chairs. In that room, and on this visit, there were only uncomfortable, old, small wooden chairs without cushions. The only other option was to sit on the bed. For the price of this venue, that's not much to ask. The host/manager was very efficient but rather abrupt in our dealings with her.

A clean bed to sleep in

We were caught in a thunderstorm hiking to this property. by the time we arrived, it was 730. We were freezing cold and exhausted from our hike. We went to the reception, which was empty, and after wandering around briefly in the parking lot, we ran into a man who seemed to have some sort of managerial or staff role in the running of the hotel. After explaining that we couldn’t check in, he went in and found somebody to help us. The man who helped us was extremely short with us and appeared to be very inconvenienced by the fact that we existed. The same man later tried to take my friends dinner played away before she was done eating, and instead of just accepting that she was not done and letting her be, he proceeded to give her a table manners lesson about placing her utensils on her plate to signal whether or not she was done with her food. The lack of empathy, awareness, and hospitality on the part of the staff at this hotel was sort of shocking. I am not sure if it was because we are American, because I did view a few large parties that were American and they seemed to be being treated relatively well. it was difficult for us to get service while in the hotel, partially because the hotel is very busy and by the admission of the manager that we met in the parking lot, the hotel itself is quite understaffed, at least, it seems, with regards to front of house personnel.

Great view from the hotel, the spa is cool

The superior room turned out to be smelly, small and my husband has hit his head against the roof many times as it was an attic room. It was also old-fasioned. We got a fondue for dinner that was full of alcohol and undercooked. Worst I have ever had. Tap water got dirty overnight and there was no information it could not be drinkable in the room. The device overall does not care, or is just slow. Overpriced for the level of service we got.

Quiet hamlet with just a few buildings. We had a lovely room with a huge bath that we took advantage of after hiking all day. Our view from our balcony was beautiful. We slept with the windows opened and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very pleasant. This was one of our favorite stays on the Via Alpina trek.

    Perhaps provide a fan?

Beautiful location, very comfortable rooms. Friendly & informative staff. Spa/sauna a bonus.

Being end of season dinners & breakfast were across the road (ie hotels consolidating into one place); not ideal but not overly inconvenient either. Good breakfast though.

Great location for the walk I was doing, room was perfect size with ensuite shower room. Breakfast had good buffet selection. Staff managed to fit me in for dinner although I hadn't booked in advance. Place had a friendly atmosphere

Blackout curtains would have been good but it wasn't too bright early in morning. Would have been nice to have a kettle in room.

This is an iconic establishment in a unique location, which was perfect for me walking the Via Alpina. The facilities are very good. Evening meal and breakfast of high standard.

It would have helped me to have the menus in English.
