How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is amazing. It's very close to the lake, shops, and a short walk to the train station. The bed was comfortable. The staff were very responsive.
No front desk, but you can call a number and speak to someone who can help you.

Verified reviewWe liked the central location. The beds were good but the upstairs space is a little tight for tall people. Great views of the lake and courtyard.
At least 3 lights/lamps didn’t work and the clock was out of batteries. Some more work could be done to improve the lighting. No laundry detergent was provided either. We brought our own shampoo/condition/soap to supplement the small packets provided.

Verified reviewThe location; it’s in the old town of Vevey but in a small street so noise at all at night. The room was big, there was a small fridge and the bedding was absolutely perfect and comfy.
There was no hair dryer, but it was not a big deal as it was summer time. No toiletries and no courtesy cups were provided in the bathroom. Furthermore there was no hook to hang the towel and finally no extra toilet paper roll was available. According to the staff information it had been put behind the mirror in the bathroom, I didn’t find it.

Verified reviewLocation near lakefront, spacious en-suite, convenient check in using key box, comfortable bed.
Nothing really. Overall space average. Aircon would have been a plus.

Verified reviewVery close to Lake Luzern. Off to the left side, we could see the lake from our windows. There were restaurants very close by and lots of places to stroll around. There were also several shops close by.
SUPER hard to find - address given not descriptive or adequate. Hard to access key. Someone should be there to greet travellers. No clothes washer. No air conditioner. Fan was not helpful and no screens on windows so they had to stay shut! We cooked in that tiny room. No plug for coffee maker WTF? No toilet paper. This is an apartment not a 'guest house' - no staff at any time showed up.

Verified reviewBeautiful situation right in the heart of Vevey with the promenade, seafront, shops, bars and restaurants very close by. The property was well serviced every day - shout out to the maid there - clean and comfortable. The property arranged discount cards which amongst other benefits gave us free transport on the buses including the 201 to the Funiculaire. I would highly recommend.
Although not the property's fault it is fair to highlight that parking can be an issue close to the Guesthouse with stays as short as one hour only allowed. There are parking houses further away and the public transportation system is excellent however.

Verified reviewLocation fabulous. Overlooked the market square.Frint rooms had lake views. Cleaning lady was lovely. Replaced a broken kettle.
Bathroom cupboard lights didn't work and obviously couldn't be fixed as the cleaner got us a new kettle but not new lights. Smoke detector was in a drawer with a battery missing.

Verified reviewThe location was amazing. Its right on the lake and not far from train station.
Oh there are so many things which were not to be liked. The apartment was in terrible shape frankly. 1. Its a 4th floor apartment with no lift 2. Everything in the flat was broken. Fan made crazy noise, curtains rods were broken, lights did not work, bathroom fittings were broken, balcony was dirty! 3. They didnt want us to write a bad review looks like so promised a compensation as the stay was not comfortable and they did not do anything to sort the above issues. The whole compensation thing was a trick to dissuade a bad review. The apartment was in such bad shape that i am shocked noone else has pointed this out in reviews. I am attaching pics. videos so that they cannot refute the review. Stay there at your own peril!

Verified reviewThe location was great, although realizing it was down a tiny little alley and it wasn’t an actual inn/hotel was a little challenging at first. The WiFi was excellent.
It wasn’t made clear that this was just a room in a building without a reception or guest services. The amenities are very limited. The washcloths were removed after day one and not replaced. There were two coffee cups but no glasses, which wasn’t necessarily bad, but it meant I had to enjoy my first taste of Swiss wine in a coffee cup.

Verified reviewVery good location, very calm, very nice balcony, comfortable kitchen and very easy communication with the owner Easy access tk the room
Not very comfortable room- I would need at least one chair and wardrobe for the clothes- The one upstairs very uncomfortable The property does not have elevator which is understandable
