Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe Safe was locked on arrival which was problematic due to having o safe store of my laptop, passports, cash. The weather was very hot however I purchased a fan which was not an issue. Switzerland doesn't generally use AirCon and it's understandable when one considers the Eco system. Typically Swiss I was asked to be quiet from a neighbour after 10am while I spoke with my headset on the balcony.
I would advise any new visitors to Bad Zurzach that it's straight forward and quick with Public Transport if you don't have a car. Take 1. Take the Postauto bus to Bulach then change onto the Train to Bad Zurzach. It's fast, super super reliable albeit expensive for many of us who don't earn a Swiss Wage. From memory it's about £40 ish return but rest assured Swiss Transport services don't get cancelled like we get back home in the UK. Note that it has a wonderful Olympic sized Swimming Pool as well as the Thermal baths. The latter is expensive but amazing to Swim outside during the Winter even with a foot of snow. Water Temperature is between 30-37 degrees if I remember right. The Olympic Swimming pool is amazing though they have now stopped heating it due to high costs. On the plus side they use an expensive, none irritating chemical which won't hurt your eyes if going under water. It has three diving boards in a sperate diving pool though the 3m board is now just a platform due to new Swiss laws requiring more distance to the end of the pool. For those who enjoy high boards up to 10 metres high you can go to Baden, Switzerland just a few minutes by car. To note, most villages even have their own outdoor pools. The river Rhine is amazing, super clean, drinkable but I it's even nicer to the East of Schaffhausen. Oh at not least borders the Beautiful Black Forest in Germany. Last but not least days out to the Alps is easy.

NetherlandsThe self-check-in process was complicated and extremely time consuming (at first I didn’t receive a functional link). We got to swim about 40 minutes shorter in the evening at the bathing facilities because of it. Since I had no good reception on my phone around the guesthouse, the digital key was a DISASTER. A digital key is NOT a good option if there is no functioning WiFi.
The proximity to the bathing facilities is great. The room is spacious and clean. It’s very handy that there is a washroom with washing machines and dryers.

SwitzerlandThe towels need to be replaced. They looked a bit worn and dingy. I do recommend the hotel put in soap dispensers. The tiny packs of shower gel and shampoo are annoying. Maybe consider putting a vending machine in the common area. There is parking across the street, but so many of the spots were reserved for (longer term?) guests who had a pass. I parked at the Thermalbad parking down the street. The guesthouse could simply ask the guests if they need parking and add 10 CHF a night to the invoice.
The check-in process was very smooth. There were no issues at all to access the building and the room. I liked that there was a fridge in the room and that there was a luggage stand. Facecloths are provided as well. The bed was comfortable. The wifi worked decently well, although I had to reboot my devices to connect.

AustraliaThe contactless check in was not perfect. The smartphone swipe system did not always work first go which led to unnecessary stress. The SMS verification for Wifi was problematic for me as an overseas traveller I was travelling on an eSIM and did not have access to SMS.
Location was great. Room was good.

Netherlands•No instruction about where to park your car. (A guest I spoke told me to leave my car in front of the metered spaces, that police was not seen in months. So I left my car there, and was not fined. •The keyless entry is a bit unclear procedure, that takes time, aspecially if you are not comfortable with your mobile phone. If you have problems, support is not available outside office hours.
Close to the termal baths.

GermanyThe cleaning takes place regularly once in two weeks It is impossible to get an official bill, while providing firm address Kitchen is only one for entire house. So sometimes eating in the common room was impossible. Even though the kitchen is excelĺently equipped with everything, except of coffee machine, so I bought extra one for me
The stuff was excellent, very helpful. They even let us stay longer in the room on the day of check-out. They also cleaned up the room extra. Told me that the cleaning takes place once in 2 weeks, which is very-very long. When I asked for cleaning after a weak, they have done it, which was very nice. The location was also great, very central, close to good infrastructure to do grocery shopping, to get to the railway station, but also excellent for going jogging in a nice landscape. The balcony was also very nice!

United StatesThe self check in was difficult as you needed to download an app that was in German. There are no employees at the facility although someone came and helped when I was having trouble getting in. I didn't like the feeling of having no one look over the place although it worked out fine. Maybe because I was a woman travelling on her own.

United StatesEverything is handled using app/web interface, check-in, unlocking entrance door, room key, laundry room... Nice that there is no key to loose, though for some, it could be a bit frustrating if you accidentally close the browser, or your phone battery dies.
We were on a 3 week bike tour through Europe (EuroVelo 15) and this was a convenient mid stop between Stein am Rhein and Basel. Laundry room was free to use, washers and dryers, they blanked out all the confusing modes on the machines which was super helpful for us as well! Lots of food options around. Rooms had an outdoor patio, and plenty of space inside for storing our bikes. Our room had a bidet and large shower.
