How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A short tram ride from central station BBB. Room is small but fine for a short stay. Very comfortable bed. Excellent shower. Recomended

Atmosphere of the building was a little cold, spa listed is just a sauna and some deck chairs

Breakfast could be improved. Scrambled eggs were like water - way too loose. Bacon undercooked and very greasy.
Location excellent. Hotel clean and comfortable.

it was very complicated to access the Wifi and I could not succeed with my foreign phone number. The stuff on the front desk helped me to log in with their own cell phone to get me the password.

You cannot get a cup of coffee in the morning outside of the machine in your room with walking down the street a few blocks. Pillows were weak in the room

The room was equipped solely with blackout curtains, which effectively block all incoming light. However, it lacked standard sheer curtains that would allow natural daylight to enter while still maintaining privacy. Such curtains are particularly useful during daytime hours, as they soften the light and prevent visibility into the room from outside. Parking spaces in the hotel's private lot are very limited. A practical alternative is to drive around the park and use the public multi-storey car park located directly opposite the hotel, which charges CHF 40 per day.
My 2nd time there; very happy again. The room featured a mini fridge with complimentary refreshments, tea and coffee making facilities, and a practical and spacious walk-in shower. The hotel is ideally located next to the Basel exhibition centre, with numerous options for shopping, dining, and drinks within walking distance. Tram lines stop right in front of the hotel, and with the complimentary BaselCard provided at check-in, guests are entitled to unlimited free use of public transportation throughout the city.

I couldn't connect to wifi, not sure why for me it didn't work when I put my phone number to get the code. That was disappointing.

The quality of furniture in the room was poor. The desk was chipped and looked worn. Only one side of the Queen bed had a table. The location of the room on the floor was at the end in the corner and dark, and the carpet looked very worn. It was like booking.com was allocated the most used and basic room.

I dont like the pillows. They are very soft and unsupportive. Some people may like it but I like a little bir supportive. The second thing is I have upgraded my room to king size, the bed size may be king but bedroom is too small for king size bed. And bedside drawers do not suit to room furniture, since everything is designed very well. And I dont understand the adjustment of the air conditioner.
Everything is wonderful and many thanks for all stuff. Bathroom and bed are perfect. I like curtains it is almost blackout design. Coffee and minibar is a good compliment from the hotel.

The furniture was a tad damaged and dated. The air conditioning control system is not trivial in use.
The room was clean, and the location is very good if you partake in any commercial events that revolve around the Basel Expo Centre.

Pillows are skinny. Only two options : skinny or hard. Neither is comfortable. Not much space to hang clothes.

No twin beds in a bigger room with a toilet door- the person at reception had to make a plan for us. Think about catering for friends staying together who prefer privacy in the toilet!
