How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A fridge in the room would have been very useful.

Booked last minute so price was a bit more than I would expect for an Ibis
Relaxed hotel, comfortable room, nice staff. Close to the lake and other activities. Breakfast looked good but we visited the cafe opposite, which was great.

Pillows are too soft, I couldn't sleep properly. No fridge in room. Pancakes at breakfast would have been a nice touch.

Rooms are small, bathroom is as small as on a cruise ship.
Good location, nice staff. Rooms are clean and property is modern.

I was so disappointed that we have to wait 45 mins to check in .. yes we came a bit earlier but the from desk assistant told us the room is ready however you have to subscribe for Aqua membership or something like this to be eligible for early check in. The parking lot is good and spacious but unfortunately like hotels in the city the rate is very high although we came in early time of the year. You should reconsider the rate. 23 CHF per day is too much Last but not least the bathroom is very very very small. It is like the cruise bathroom. 6.5/10
Location was good and near by the lake and other takes u about 25 mins by walk to reach the city center Near by a grocery store. Accessible to the bus and it’s few mins to the city center …

No drinking water in the room
Nicely located 2 min from the Lugano waterfront, and overall area is really nice. Hotel offers parking for 23chf per night, room was as described. Breakfast was pretty standard for Europe, everything was fresh and we liked it. Novotel is located next door over the corner and they have really nice terrace with a pool and good cafe, so worth to check if you go to Lugano.

The only thing that was not to my liking is how the bathroom in the room seems like a camping home... you can hear every noise even though the door is closed.

Nothing that was unpleasant
Reception was friendly. Room was standard Ibis and hence we got what we asked for. Internet was working fine and parking was available (against payment)

Not a big fan of this kind of a bathroom, its like a cabin and feel like you are in the train or an airplane.
Stayed in this hotel many times, the location is very convenient even if it's not in the city center of Lugano. 2 bus stops nearby to get to the trains station or the city center. Breakfast is simple but nice, room size is good. Appreciate the Ticino card provided by the hotel to use the public transport for free around Ticino.

The only negative thing I can say is that unfortunately reception did not accept the cargo that came to my name and the cargo was sent back, even though we confirmed it before with reception.
Everything was as it should be. Clean and cozy rooms.

The smaller third bed was a little small and too close to the curtains, but this did not prevent a very comfortable sleep. When we arrived the room was still warm, but we were able to cool it down during dinner.
Well sized room with all the necessary equipment, seamless check-in and check-out, professional and kind staff. The breakfast was very nice and offered in a very big room, which could host all of the guests being there for the event we were also attending. Perfect location, close to plenty of restaurants and ice-cream places, and very few minutes away from the train station (Paradiso) and the lake.
