The accomodation was very well located. The host was friendly and service oriented. And there were little details like coffee, tea, very nice.

The cleanliness of the some of the cutlery and dishes was questionable. The steps to the third floor unit were steep and narrow. Not a complaint as such just something to expect.

Violet was great communicating. Cute compact space. An unusual heat wave was occurred and a portable AC was waiting for us. Much appreciated.

Violet, the host, is amazing and very welcoming with great communication throughout. As such access to the property was easy (despite our delayed arrival). The location is excellent and couldn't be more central with cafes, bars, gorgeous shops and supermarkets nearby. The apartment had everything we needed and more. We walked almost everywhere, swam in the river, took in the local culture and people watched outside the apartment window! We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Exactly as described, older style modest apartment in perfect location. Good communication before and during arrival. Apartment is very good value for Basel. Perfect comfortable stay for a few nights in a usually expensive city. Felt like a local with markets and good cafes at the front door. Local boutiques and supermarket within metres. Host provided Basel tourist discount card. Used the tram to Basel train station. Easy to find. Enjoyed my long weekend and would love to stay again in Basel. Everything, galleries, & Xmas markets in walking distance.

Smallish bathroom and we had to wait for the host to arrive with the key. Host had washing machine going to 10pm in the kitchen which was a bit noisy. She said to stop it and dump out the load but we let it run!!

The apartment is on the 2nd floor with no lift and steep stairs. The bathroom is basic and the coffee machine plug did not fit in the socket in the kitchen.

It is a small apartment and there wasn't a lot of room to unpack and store our stuff, but that really wasn't much of a problem.

This was a very pleasant apartment in an excellent location. It's small, but we had enough space, and it was attractively and comfortably furnished. And the location was great. It's in the old town, about a minute away from the tram stop at Markplatz, so we were only a heartbeat away from the daily market there - in fact, we could see it from our window - and another heartbeat away from a Coop and a Migros. She and Alex were also very accommodating about our arrival time. We were scheduled to arrive in Basel several hours ahead of their check-in time, but Violet assured us that we could check in early if the previous guests had left and, if they hadn't, we could leave our luggage. As it turned out, our plane was late, but Alex waited patiently for us anyway. I was a little worried about finding it, but Violet gave us excellent instructions, advising us NOT to try to walk but to take the 8 or 11 tram and to get off at the fourth stop. I wasn't terribly clear what to do next, and Google maps was having one of its occasional failures, but I checked back with Violet and she drew me a little map and gave me a landmark to look for. Perfect.

Bathroom needed modernising

A lot. The outside temperature was in the upper 80s and there was a winter blanket on the bed and no sheets. Partly what attracted me to book this place was the picture of a washing machine. When we arrived, it was running very noisily with someone's clothes in it. No instructions on use, nor soap. I wrote the owner, got no reply, and two hours later it was still going. The "desk" (a table) had no chair, but a backless stool. No luggage racks or other appropriate place for our suitcases. One was just able to fit in a metal shelving unit, the other remained on the floor. We were told we could eat or drink anything, but there were no drinks and nothing to eat that didn't need cooking, like, say, fruit or crackers or other finger food. There were four little pieces of chocolate in a bowl, but that was it in the way of "help yourself to any of the food." Our unit was three steep flights up and no one to offer to help us get the luggage up the stairs.

There was no breakfast, either included or optional for pay. The location was excellent, in the middle of the old town.

Very steep winding stairs which are a problem with luggage. Very compact apartment for 2 people. It was very hot and in order to use the air-conditioning unit the window had to remain open which in a very busy area meant you either suffer the heat or are woken at 5.30 am by the businesses opening outside and delivery trucks.

Worn. On the third (fourth floor for Americans); no lift.

The location can’t be beat. We could see the Rathaus and the market from the window. Good bakery across the street. Nice bistro with great patio around the corner. Good shopping in the old town. Comfortable. Easy tram access.
