How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only (small) negative point was the slight smell / stale air in the hallways and the room. It shows that the building is older.
The hotel has a parking (indoor and outdoor) that you can book additionally. This is particularly useful considering that your stay comes with a free Geneva transport card, that allows you to use all public transport. The room was nice and cosy, even though we obviously didn't spend much time in it. (Kettle and instant coffee as well as mugs were in the room). Breakfast was served in the form of a buffet with warm options: f.ex. scrambled eggs, sausages, beans, rice and cold options f.ex. bread, musli, etc. The hotel also offers its very own mango lassi (it's a drink made from mainly yogurt and mango). Very delicious and highly recommended.

It was a great experience
The hotel is very well positioned towards the center and the lake. We received a free transport card from the hotel (by boat, by public transport and by train throughout the canton) for the entire duration of our stay. Impeccable cleanliness, rich breakfast, with many choices, a particularly beautiful room, very friendly staff. In short, everything is perfect

Beautiful hotel with great amenities. Had a mini-kitchenette in the room along with a lot of great features. Very quiet. Close to train station and lake.

Difficult to say, the only thing that could have made it even better is a bottle of free water in the room

We didn't have breakfast because it is a bit too expensive.
Nice and well equipped room. Definitely above expectations for a 3* hotel. Very friendly staff. Good location, close to train station, bars, restaurants and shops. 15 min walk to city centre.

Shower cubicle a little compact.
Warm & friendly welcome from reception & breakfast staff, lovely room with comfortable bed, tasty breakfast, 10 min walk from railway station, free travel card provided allowing use of trains, buses, trams & water taxi across Lake during our stay.

One of the female staff was not all welcoming.
My parents loved their stay at Kipling. Location is excellent (near the train station and easy access to the airport - the hotel provides a free transit pass !) Hotel was clean and room had everything needed. They were able to check in right away which was very appreciated. The young lady who welcomed them/checked them was very nice but the other female staff who worked later that evening was so cold!! Didn't even bother greeting them!

The continental ("express") breakfast was awful. 1 mini croissant, I mini pain au chocolat, a cup of machine coffee and a glass of juice for CHF 9.50. There are far nicer breakfasts to be had just a few minutes walk away.
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, and a clean and comfortable room. We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay there again

The hotel was perfect for my family. Easy walking distance from the main train station and bus station for day trips. There were many international restaurants in the area too. Easy walk to Lake Geneva. The front desk staff was very polite and accessible to give directions and help with day trip planning.
