Reviews of Le Vieux Chalet

We stayed for a short break in one of the Vieux Chalet's self-catering appartments. The appartment exceeded our expectations for size and comfort and was very quiet - despite the neighbouring building opposite. The bed was comfortable and all the fittings top notch. The balcony was huge and offers beautiful views to the lake below. You can hear the cowbells tinkling in the fields nearby. The hotel offer daily room service and a clean, plus free mineral water and coffee pods which was a lovely suprise! The apartments has full electric shutters for all the windows and offers easy access to the open car park. The fluffy towels and loo roll provided were also a real treat! We ate one dinner for our anniversary - which was in the hotel's public restaurant. A very charming space and a good range of dishes on the menu. We loved being close to Charmey village for use of the the thermal baths and had a glorious first day walking in the Jaun Valley nearby.

Getting inside was a little tricky as we arrived after hours and there was some confusion about the key code that had been telephoned to me. Sending this by email or booking.com message would be a great help! There was a lack of privacy at one end of the balcony where it was overlooked by the car parking area. Perhaps a screen here would be nice? There were a few items missing from the kitchen which the hotel have taken note of. The hotel dinner menu was, typically of Switzerland very expensive so we only ate there on one occasion.

Perfect location on an amazing spot! The views are incredible. I think it is a perfect place for a couple, but we were with our one year old and we felt also very welcome. Good food and parking right in front of the hotel. We stayed in a hotel room and the appartment. Both were very nice! Overall, a great stay, thank you!

Awesome facilities, welcoming staff, authentic design of the interior and great panorama of the valley from the terrace. Plus a restaurant with one of the best fondues I have ever tried.

Super cozy, high standard house and room with terrace and spectacular view. Clean an quiet. Free parking close to hotel. Quiet setting in small lovely village. Super comfortable beds. Nice breakfast.

Beautiful place with cosy interior. All details of the decor have been carefully thought out. Tradition married with modern touch. The place is all what you would expect from the Swiss Alpine Chalet. 🙂 Great restaurant. We had a very nice dinner there. Food was delicious. Staff was very helpful and customer oriented. Looking forward to visit this place again 🙂

No kettle in my room

Beautiful view from the room. Rooms nicely designed and maintained. Very friendly lady at breakfast.

Staff at check-in less friendly. Room a bit warm, even with window open. One of the blinds at the windows slightly broken, but no big deal because the exterior lamps switch off at 10pm.

Staff were friendly and super helpful, location was perfect, view was stunning. Can’t fault it!

One of the best places I have visited with the most amazing view to a dreamy lake. A quiet place for a perfect vacation, especially if you want to take it easy and chill while listening to the cows. Recommend it for sure!

I was travelling for 3 weeks and this was my favourite hotel .The hotel was amazing and the room was absolutely beautiful. We had a roof top patio area with sun loungers.Staff were extremely friendly . The evening meal was fabulous ( high end and the presentation superb)and the wine recommended by the waiter was perfect Would go back again
