Beautiful classic hotel in the heart of Basel. The staff was excellent. One of the best dinners of our travel was at the restaurant in the hotel.

Very noisy, construction going on right around hotel. Windows weren’t soundproof enough.

Husband had breakfast there and said it was amazing. Room was huge but stairs in the room were tricky. First class hotel. Best steam room ever and Im obsessed with steam rooms.

WE hired a car from this location but cannot park near hotel because of the trams

We were up graded on check in the room was very spacious which was fabulous .There was a selection of sweets to help yourself in the foyer and on check out we were given a bottle of water and a bar of chocolate for our onward journey

There wasn't anything in particular that we didn't like. If i had to pick one thing it would be the heat in the room at night, with the window open it was quite noisy with the trams passing by.

The staff were really helpful and just so friendly. We had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived and told where we could find everything. We had asked about Wickelfische's and they advised we could borrow some from the hotel at no extra cost. The place was immaculate and had the best scent when you walked through the entrance.

Email a few days before arrival tell that the restaurant was closed for a month.....not good news as we like to dine in hotel. Would have chosen another hotel if I had known it was closed for 1 month....spoilt the overall experience

The breakfast was expensive, especially for guests traveling from North America.

The gym was well equipped and spacious. I especially enjoyed the “spa water”. We were able to enjoy the public lounge area on a hit afternoon while waiting to board a river cruise, which was much appreciated.

What is not to like! We loved the kind welcome from staff on arrival. The staff were attentive and available to help with anything we needed throughout our 9 day stay. We enjoyed the breakfast especially the porridge and fresh omelette options. A good addition would be more pastries rather than just bread, rolls and croissants. The room was a great size with great bathroom and amazing rain shower. The towels were fluffy and products supplied were divine. The free mini bar with a section of drinks and snacks replenished daily was a welcome treat in the afternoons! Having arrived in the middle of a heat wave we knew air conditioning may not be enough (Swiss have strict govt laws for sustainable air conditioning systems throughout the country) but the front desk supplied a fan which got us through the peak days perfectly. We loved the terrace bar and visited it throughout our stay. The location was great for walking and also for accessing trams. The free trams card gifted at the start of our stay meant we travelled free everywhere although we had prepurchased 7 day passes prior to arriving at the hotel which cost 50chf each - so would have been good to know this before arriving. We loved our gifted chocolate blocks on checkout. I had several friends (4 bookings) also book and we all loved staying here whilst our sons performed in the 2025 Basel tattoo. the staff was welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable, and the restaurant fabulous. appreciated the extra welcome touch with the local port and sweet. Weather was very warm, the extra fan provide quite helpful. Location convenient.

There is a lot of street noise. As well, they let too many people from outside into the restaurant and bar. They make you fight for a table. That definitely is a low point, but the design and food in restaurant are good.
