Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe location, though serene, absolutely stunning and secluded from the city, also makes it difficult to get to especially if you have luggage. Without public transportation and non availability of snowmobiles, during non-ski seasons you need to get a taxi when coming up with luggage. Once you are there, going back and forth between the city and the chalet can be a bit of an extra effort. There are still ways to get to and from Zermatt (you walk a bit and take an elevator down to the city) if without big luggage, which the host was kind enough to help with. Having said that, if you want a nice place all for yourself and don't mind the going up and down, this is absolutely the place.
The place is up in Riedwig away from the bustle of Zermatt, which makes the ambience amazing. The views of the Matterhorn are stunning, and the peak is visible from literally every part of the chalet, without any obstruction and a good viewing height. I doubt you will get a better view of the Matterhorn anywhere else in and around Zurich in the place you stay. More importantly, the host, Claudio, is amazing and very friendly. He helped us with almost anything.

Canadawould love a small microwave. breakfast is Continental but after four nights gets a little repetitive. it would have been nice to have had a few different pastry choices. we ended up purchasing them from the restaurant below and their tarts were fabulous. although costly... a yoga mat would be 👍
Loved the one bedroom unit. the location is interesting off of a red run to access it by skis, which was quite exciting.. Claudio was also very helpful in arranging a skidoo before or after the ski lifts so that we could go into the town of Zermatt. Just that in itself was exciting. working out the Sunnega ski funicular and then how to get around is a little challenging, but that's part of the fun.. We walked up after 9:00 p.m. one night on the run and it was a beautiful starlit evening. A good 40 minutes from the base however. The apres ski party is quite fun. The music a little loud, but everything shuts down at 6:00 p.m. You are completely isolated in the evening which is very nice and very quiet if you love this. The view is fabulous. If you decide to eat at the restaurant, Claudio will make you a wonderful meal. The logistics of running this place is quite something. everything has to be skidooed up

A unique property that offers a special experience that seasoned travellers yearn for. The host cares about the guest experience and is as unique as the property itself. The view of the Matterhorn is unparalleled.

United StatesIt is a taxi ride distance from the train station – – so it is not walkable with luggage. Claudio has established a set price with the taxi services he uses, so in September 2024 that was €50. My wife and I were very thankful for the taxi! It is a significant hike downhill to town from the Matterhorn Restaurant, and a steep uphill hike when returning. Come prepared!
My wife and I just finished our trip to Europe where we stayed at 10 different bed and breakfast lodgings, and the Matterhorn Ried Suite was our favorite! Claudio was a superb host, and was very helpful in arranging a taxi for us from the train station to the Matterhorn Restaurant. When he showed us the suite, we were amazed, very happily surprised – – it has a separate bedroom, kitchen, plus a living room with kitchen table and a woodburning stove, which felt very pleasant on the cool fall evenings. Breakfast was in the refrigerator and on the counter, with a good selection of fruit, meat, cheese, and bread—plus juices, milk and yogurt, and we had the flexibility to eat whenever it fit our schedule. The first night we stayed, we have dinner and Claudio‘s restaurant, and it was delicious. The view of the Matterhorn was incredible – – we were very impressed. We would definitely stay at the Matterhorn Ried Suite again.

FranceAmazing property and hosts were super nice! A little bit of a walk from Zermatt as location is in Reid. The chalet is a 2 room chalet, with a bedroom and living room (with a fireplace and pull out couch, TV and dining table). Kitchen and amenities were included alongside breakfast and cold cuts/cheese. Felt like home away from home. Plus: balcony views you see the Matterhorn, and a delicious restaurant downstairs as well. Great stay, 10/10 recommend! :) Dog friendly as well (nightly fee applies) Would recommend taking the lift from Sunnega station up to Reidweg, then walking along the path to reach the property

United StatesNot really a complaint, but you can't control the Weather. So I recommend booking 3 or 4 nights for best results and best chances to enjoy the view,, depending on the time of year. Please note as others mentioned you may need to anticipate a Taxi for about 50 CHF, prenegotiated flat fare by the owners to keep it reasonable. You can actually walk/hike, but it is a bit of a climb until you get used to some of the shortcuts. We considered renting eBikes, however those are even more expensive than the Taxi. Sure would be fun though! Try it out.
Absolutely wonderful, 10/10. A lot of thought and caring is put into this Chalet. It is a bit off the beaten path, but we found it accessible enough for 3 nights in May. You cannot beat the view and waking up to the Matterhorn out your front window, from you deck/terrace for Breakfast. The Restaurant is also one of the best in Zermatt and locals make the trip up the hill for some fine dining and social affairs. It seems like they have thought of everything you might need, from toiletries on through all you need for an outstanding Breakfast every day. Claudio was very attentive, communicates well, and you can tell really cares about the experience of all his guests. 100% would/will stay here again if we get the chance.

The location, beautiful views to die for from every angle. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Balcony with furniture to admire the views while having breakfast and drinks while watching the sunset over the mountains especially the Matterhorn. Claudio was very helpful and when the extra mile. We didn’t get chance to enjoy the restaurant due to being our from early while late due to so many activities and hiking. Thanks so much you are a lovely gentleman.

United KingdomOk - so hands up - I did not read the facilities section fully and there are no facilities to cook and I love to cook! We got round this, so it was fine but be prepared eating and drinking in Zermatt is expensive. We knew it would be, but were not quite prepared for prices that were more than double to that of UK prices. In order to get those awesome views, the property is out of town - uphill 30/40 minutes. We were ok as we hike a lot, but at the end of the day - it could be a challenge. To get a taxi is 50 euros. Our advice - stock up at the supermarket early on and take the shopping up in a taxi. Supermarket prices are also expensive. More pillows would have been perfect.
We booked this property based on the reviews of the view and it did not disappoint. The views from both balconies are simply stunning. The situation is a little isolated, which we loved. We enjoyed many fabulous hikes and hired e-bikes from the town. The trails for bikes and hikes are challenging. One day we took the train up to Gornergrat (take a coat) and walked down (4+ hours) steep downhill. Visit the Matterhorn experience - worth the cost. We stayed for a week and found different hikes/activities each day. The property is very clean and well equipped. Claudio and the team are fabulous, very friendly and their service is excellent. You can book a very good meal downstairs in the restaurant. The food supplied each day in the fridge was a very welcome bonus - bread, milk, cheese, ham, yoghurts etc... We had a fabulous week - cannot recommend more highly!

United StatesOther than needing a taxi to and from ….the place is a 10/10!
The chalet was amazing. By far the nicest place we stayed in during our Switzerland trip. Plenty of room for 2 and the view was breathtaking. In hind sight we would have left our luggage in a train station locker and just packed necessities in our back packs. There is no way to get to the chalet by walking with luggage. It would be a 40 minute walk up hill and paved/rocky road eventually. We took a taxi to and from the train station which was 50 chf each time. If I could do it again I would leave luggage , pack backpacks, and rent e-bikes immediately on arrival. Then you can get to and from the chalet in 10 minutes and enjoy amazing views along the way. We would definitely stay here again!

I don’t know where to start. Absolutely epic experience here at the Matterhorn Ried. Loved the remote location. Loved the views, even when the Matterhorn was hiding, Loved the extra touches such as the delicious coffee with daily refills, fresh fruit with daily restock, stocked fridge with yummies, and of course the Tobleones. The list goes on.

CyprusCustomer service when I checked in: I said the exact time i will arrive as they’ve asked me before. After a very tiring day i was still waiting 20 minutes outside because none were there for check in but that didn’t bother me, what bothered me was that when the owner came said he didn’t read the message from booking which is not true because he replied in a question I said in the same message. Also very tiring going to the suite if you go by foot from the centre.
Amazing view really nice and cozy place, breakfast was very nice and the facilities very nice too. Clean, beautiful and quiet. Love it

United StatesI don’t like how far it is from the actual city. This is a no car city so getting to the property is very difficult. It can only be done by taxi and it is a flat fee of 50 chf EACH WAY! Meaning 100 chf there and back. This threw us out of budget, making me and my friend climb up the hill and go down by foot. That is the only complain I can have about this place. It was breathtaking and exceptional but it will throw you out of budget a lot for the way up and down via taxi.
The views are absolutely breathtaking! It’s such a unique spot! Great for Honeymooners! This is the perfect location for you to unplug from the fast life!

United StatesIt is on the outskirts of town and to get there and leave with luggage need a cab from the train station. It is a 20 minute walk to the outskirts of town longer if going to city center. Beautiful walk but it is uphill on the way back. Two out of shape 60 year olds did fine. I am not sure how the road is in the winter as we were here in the fall. The host is extremely helpful and I’m sure can help with this. His English is impeccable, and he speaks other languages as well.
Nice kitchenette with well stocked pantry, and refrigerator. Refrigerator had eggs, milk, juices, butter, cheeses, and sliced deli meats. It had a cooktop, coffee, maker, electric tea, kettle , toaster, and egg maker. Well, stocked with glasses, cups, dinnerware, and cutlery. Very clean. Living room was lovely with great million dollar views of the Matterhorn from the window and small balcony. Had a sofa, dining table, and fireplace. Bedroom had large bed with adequate closets and storage space. Well, equipped bathroom shower had good hot water and water pressure restaurant had excellent food. It closes early so that it is very quiet at night. Hikers and bikers dream in the fall.
