How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A bit noisy during the day from the opening and closing of doors and, when you open the windows, traffic. But I got a good night's sleep.
Excellent location on the same street as the train station and near the center of town. Excellent Wi-Fi. Clean and tidy. The staff is very nice and helpful.

When you book with booking.com, you don't get a coffee machine and they do not clean your room or change the towels etc., as these become a chargeable item
Location perfect, close to the railway station and only a short stroll to restaurants and the lake.

Room was sparsely furnished with no air conditioning and not even a fan (30C hot weather when we stayed). Unfortunately Switzerland is very expensive so you get what you pay for. But it was satisfactory for our purposes.
Biggest plus point is central location: a few minutes walk from the town centre, shops, restaurants and sights. Also within easy walking distance of the railway station (we took train to Lausanne for the day - expensive even by UK standards but great service). As we came on motorcycles it was essential that we could park on site.

Suggestion to the hotel: the courtyard rooms face a seemingly calm parking lot but every outgoing (from 6am onwards) or incoming car drives over two metal street gutters with a loud bang – can't you somehow soundproof them with litte effort? I like sleeping with open windows in summer.
Travelling by public transport the location was perfect: important bus stop in front and the old town with restaurants, sights and shops was in 2 minutes walking distance. The stay comes with an additional tourist tax (taxe de séjour) not included in booking.com, but it entitles you to the powerful Neuchâtel Tourist Card, which in the end saved me more than 40 Francs over the stay. The room was perfectly clean even with some aged facilities. The wifi worked seamlessly. I chose this hotel because of its location, value for money and good last-minue availability.

Reception staff were rude and it felt like they were doing a favor at all times. Special remark for the one in the second day. The one that goes home with the restaurant chef!

Very basic hotel but lovely large rooms with very comfy bed. It all looked a little tired. Handle missing on bathroom door and curtains which didn’t want to open or close. However, perfect for our needs and in an excellent location. Beware Sunday mornings when they host an evangelical church who are very very noisy!!!

It was very noisy in the morning (repetitive music and singing from a different room). The bed was not very comfortable and was a little squeaky…

The bathtub was very dirty. The ground was black. It looks like they didn’t cleaned it for a while. I was glad that I had my Flipflops so that we could take a shower with Flipflops. The facility were very old. But this is ok. But I wished it would be more clean.

Room and bathroom a bit outdated.

The facility inside the room was very minimal. There was no phone, no kettle, no hairdryer, no waste bin inside the washroom. But I am able to ask for a hairdryer inside my room. Overall it was not too bad.
The location is very good, walk to city center in 5 mins. Walk to Neuchatel train station in 7 mins. Bus station is just in front of the hotel. My room has a lake view and a little balcony. The staff is very friendly. They helped me get the Neuchatel tourist card. Because starting in 2025, we have to use the new online system to apply for the card, the little booklet we used before is no longer available. The online application was very complicated and also I haven’t received the QR code for application.

The room was exactly as seen in the pictures. It was also clean and comfortable. Staff was kind. The room was a bit expensive, but overall I am happy from my stay.
