We got the best sleep here! The king beds were outstanding and so comfy. The whole place is very interesting but totally worth it! The room was lovely and spacious for our family of 4 and the breakfast was dynamite! Thank you Gunter and all! You made our final days in Switzerland the absolute best!

The AU stop was a bit lacking for things to do. You have to travel to the stop before or after to get a good amount of restaurants. Just keep that in mind coming and going. Overall, a great stay for the price and we did enjoy being outside the hustle and bustle of Zurich.

The owner Gunter and his lovely wife offered excellent service, going above and beyond with service, advice, recommendations and assistance. The property is quirky & exceptionally finished with amazing decor. Each room has a different unique style. The hallways and entrance are all dressed with chic home decor where every piece is for sale, including some of the furniture and fixtures in your room. We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast in Au, a beautiful location near Zurich.

    Nothing. Everything was wonderful!

When we booked this hotel, we didn’t set high expectations. But when we arrived, all we could say was WOW! It’s a stunning hotel with a unique room design, personally created by the owners—people who truly love what they do and take great pride in it. And it’s not only the rooms that are exceptional, but also the amazing people who work there. They bring even more beauty and warmth to this place. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every moment. I sincerely hope we’ll have the chance to return. We highly recommend this place and send warm greetings from Sweden!

    Hidden gem - spacious rooms!

A bit of flies issue - also super polite staff but it is more like a family business than a typical hotel

Mr Gunnar Hopf ,the owner of the hotel was exceptionally friendly and kind. Even we did not buy breakfast , since he realized we had our eggs :)) , he permitted us to use the kitchen , and also he gave us wonderful recommendations for the best hikes and the swimming possibilities in the lake , so bec of him we tremendously enjoyed the area , we realized that the location of the hotel is perfect, and also he gave us some very valuable advise where to park our car , the best price for the city parking , and not finished yet , just before check in he prepared wonderful coffees for us . I am in the travel business for more than 30 years , Gunnar is one of the most professional manager I have ever met. I should also mention that this hotel is really like an living Art Museum.

    We enjoyed everything .

We stayed here 6 nights and loved it. From outside, the hotel doesn't look paticularly promising, but don't be put off... it is excellent. We loved the spacious room with 2 double beds, the proximity to the lake with swimming badi (10min walk), Au castle, station (2 mins) and Aldi (3 mins). You're right on the S8 line into Zurich (about 25 mins) or you can catch the boat from the Au peninsular stop (takes about an hour). Unless you need to stay in the city centre, stay here! For the same price as a very basic hotel in the city, you'll get a really nice boutique hotel room located by the lake, with air con, bottled water daily, lovely bathroom, just very high quality all round. Arne and the staff are really helpful, accommodating and friendly. We'll definitely stay here again if we come back to Zurich.

Nothing at all to complain about

A beautiful place inside and out! The rooms are comfortable and beautifully curated. Gunter and the staff are the kindest, most helpful and friendly people! A gorgeous stroll to the lake is right across the street as well as the train station

It was a dream! Nothing to complain about

Co-Owner and receptionist were super helpfull, diligent and put a mini fridge in my room. The hotel is small, but full of very nice artwork. Exceptional room and breakfast room design, that you wont find even in 5 star hotels. Opposite of trainstation and Aldi and Halbinsel Au Park. Room towards garden with bird chirping and no noise. Sea road like dead during evening/night. Enough free parking right infront. In short: much better than expected and how it looks from outside.

    Nothing

Staying at this hotel was a one-of-a-kind experience! Gunther, the host, made me us completely at home. His warmth, friendliness, and genuine willingness to help were truly exceptional. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, making my stay incredibly memorable. The hotel itself is like a living museum—every corner holds a special piece of art with beautiful, unique furniture and decor that tell their own stories. Walking through the hotel felt like exploring a carefully curated gallery, yet it remained cozy and welcoming. If you're looking for a place that's not just a stay but an experience, this is it. I can't recommend it enough for anyone who appreciates charm, character, and outstanding hospitality!
