How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Verified reviewCame to do some cycling in the area, and needed a place to stay for a few nights. Hotel Nufenen was ideally located for this, at the foot of the Furka, Grimsel, and Nufenen Pass climbs, with terrific scenery and a water fountain just outside. The hosts were very kind and welcoming, I was able to dine here in the evenings and there was plenty on offer for breakfast. The room had a very cosy alpine feel to it, so I was very happy! Also had secure storage for bikes!

You could hear plumbing between rooms, so not so well isolated.

Verified reviewIt’s a great stay for a quick 1/2 day trip. The room are outdated mattress not so confortable for long stay but the bathroom really nice. Breakfast also great but need more option if you don’t eat meat or gluten.
Didn’t have the montain view like specify in the booking. Didn’t have a desk to work on. Not so much to do around so bring some card game and grocery.

Dear guest Thank you for your review. However, I would like to clarify a few things below: Firstly, you received exactly the rooms you booked via this platform. Beforehand, you made numerous changes to the booking, including multiple cancellations of the initially booked rooms, followed by new bookings of the same rooms under a different name. This is why it was possible for you to write three bad reviews. I would also like to emphasise that we are always open to constructive criticism so that we can continue to develop and improve. Unfortunately, I don't detect a hint of constructiveness in your three reviews, but rather of slander and attempted character assassination. Now to the review itself: On arrival, you received exactly the rooms that you actually booked. You also paid for exactly 8 people, i.e. for exactly the same number of people who travelled. On your arrival, I spent over 30 minutes trying to explain to you that you had made a mistake with your bookings and simultaneous cancellations. In the meantime, you even claimed that you had only booked 5 single rooms. However, this is not possible as our hotel only has 3 single rooms. In the course of the long conversation and numerous attempts to explain the facts to you objectively, your tone then became loud and aggressive - a behaviour that we do not tolerate at our hotel. When one of our employees showed you your room in person, you seemed very satisfied, so I really wonder where this sudden change of heart came from. I reject your accusation with all clearness that there was only one set menu available, which was terrible, and that most people went to another restaurant down the street to eat. We offer two different 3-course menus, including one for our vegetarian guests. We were fully booked on the evening in question, our guests were all very satisfied and nobody went to another restaurant down the street. I would also like to take the liberty of posing a question directly to you personally: How can (or do you think) you know that we only had one menu on offer, that the menu was terrible, or that people chose a different restaurant when you didn't even eat at our restaurant? Because if you had actually eaten with us, you would know that we have two menus on offer and that we cook with the freshest and most regional ingredients. But I can't even blame you, because after a 30-minute argument that lacks any objective basis, I would no longer be hungry either. However, I sincerely hope that you will still be able to enjoy your holiday a little and that you will not try to slander the hotel and all its staff again during your next stay. Everything. Negative attitude of the chap on reception. He had got very muddled and despite confirming the booking and collecting money from my bank account he had let the rooms to someone else. He would not try to put things right or refund our money.

Verified reviewA really authentic wooden building with cozy rooms. The receptionist was super friendly, warm and welcoming, she made as feel very relaxed and at home. The room was spotless, all the facilities working properly. Breakfast also was good.
