Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing it was perfect
Location was the best right in the middle of town, the bar was great, they let us keep our luggage when we checked out . The hotel itself is beautiful, our room had a view of the Matterhorn. Restaurant on site was really good.

United StatesNo negatives at all. We found our way past the too-touristy parts of town. DIdn't sample the more expensive establishments up the hill near rhe cemetery.
Location great. PIcked up at train in the rain. Staff more than just friendly -- we chatted in English and German. Room in back side of house with beautiful porch and view -- well worth it. We enjoyed one early evening meal at the hotel restaurant, delicious, quickly served, and hostess kindly gave us a quiet corner table for a family 'Zoom'. A family establishment and a great 'find'.

SwitzerlandWhile our stay was overall excellent, there were a couple of minor drawbacks worth mentioning. Due to the central location, the street-facing rooms can be a bit noisy, especially with the main road just below. It’s the trade-off for being right in the heart of Zermatt. If you're sensitive to noise, we’d recommend requesting a room facing the courtyard for a quieter experience. Additionally, our bathroom only had a bathtub with a showerhead, rather than a walk-in shower. This setup may be less convenient or slippery, particularly for guests with mobility concerns. That said, these were small issues in an otherwise fantastic stay.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in the heart of Zermatt. The location is unbeatable – just a short walk from the train station and surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars, a pharmacy, and a bakery. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and well-equipped with everything we needed. A thoughtful touch was the provision of a fan, which made the top-floor room pleasantly cool even in warm weather. The newly renovated spa and gym area were a highlight – modern, serene, and a perfect place to unwind. My wife particularly enjoyed a very relaxing massage, which added an extra level of comfort to our stay. We also appreciated the free tea and coffee served in the afternoon, and the extensive breakfast buffet, which was simply excellent. Dining in was a pleasure, with a good variety of restaurants offering delicious local cuisine right on-site. We were celebrating our anniversary during our stay, and were touched by the personal note and chocolate surprise in our room – a lovely small gesture that made our day even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, service, and convenience in Zermatt!

United StatesThe staff could not get all of the clouds to clear off the Matterhorn.
There are so many lodging choices in Zermatt, but the Hotel Pollux ticked a lot of important boxes for us: Close to train station, outstanding restaurant, warm cozy pub, inviting common spaces, friendly staff, and very comfortable, quiet, and spacious rooms. We stayed there just one night to pre-position for the Glacier Express, but I wish we could have stayed longer. This is a great place to stay with lots of personality and I can see how it would be even more inviting during the long winter nights of ski season.

SwitzerlandRoom was Roadside, meaning subject to the really noisy nightly drunken clientele from the local bars and Nightclubs from midnight to 3:30 in the morning. The Room had good noise isolation windows, but still not enough to stop the Screams and shouting from outside in the early mornings. This is NOT in any way intended to scar the HOTEL, it is purely an external element to note.
Room location was ideal for us, and the coffee machine in room was a very nice touch. Room was large, comfortable, and well equipped, and quite isolated from the neighbouring rooms. Breakfast had a really great selection, including hot cooked options. Very Accommodating team working there.

AustraliaTwo things I didn’t like about the property. I could make a cup of tea in the rooms but there was no milk in the room. I was cold all the time in the room, but I am a cold person anyway.
It was a hotel right in the centre of Zermatt. You could walk the lift or you could take a bus. The staff were very friendly.

United StatesGreat location just a block from the gornergrut train. Excellent facilities for storing ski and snowboard gear. Very comfortable room and very helpful staff. While we were skiing I twisted my knee and the staff was very helpful in finding me medical care and checking on me which was well beyond their responsibility but super helpful and nice. Also a very good and varied breakfast. Highly recommend!
